When a young Florida woman in distress called 911 on June 23, the dispatcher and, subsequently, the police force were drawn into the bewildering case of Sergio Pino. Sergio was a wealthy Miami Developer, and he had an estranged wife who refused to die. And not for his lack of trying.
Authorities are still trying to figure out what was happening in Sergio Pino’s mind. But they’ll never hear from the horse’s mouth as he has passed on. The tragic story of Sergio and his wife has gained media attention; this is everything we know about it.
Sergio Pino Tried To Have His Wife Killed Repeatedly
The 911 call the distressed Florida woman made on June 23 went out because someone had just pointed a gun at her and her mother. The lady informed the operator that her mother, Tatiana Pino, was just pulling up in the driveway of her Pinecrest, Fla., home when the man allegedly pointed a gun at her.
It might have become a tragedy had Tatiana not driven her car into the backyard while honking to get her daughter’s attention. Although she was successful, it almost became a tragedy.

When Tatiana’s daughter stepped out to see what the problem was, she came face to face with the man who had a gunbarrel pointed at her. Fortunately, the man did not pull the trigger, and the unfortunate incident ended without either woman being harmed.
It was a harrowing experience but not the first attempt on Tatiana Pino’s life. Before that, Tatiana, Sergio Pino’s estranged wife, had almost lost her life a couple of times.
She allegedly has been subjected to repeated attempts of stalking and poisoning by several suspects. Federal authorities are convinced they were all hired to kill her by Sergio Pino.
Sergio Pino Committed Suicide
Sergio Pino was being investigated for the repeated attempts made on his estranged wife’s life when he died. Unfortunately, he did not die a natural death, and authorities claim he took his own life instead.
It happened less than a month after the June 23 incident, and an FBI statement confirmed he was being investigated in an alleged murder-for-hire plot. Sergio and Tatiana were married for more than 30 years. Then, she filed for divorce in April 2022 because she suspected her husband had poisoned her.
Several People Have Been Charged in Connection With Tatiana Pino’s Case
A July indictment accuses several people of orchestrating a “stalking and attempted murder campaign” against Tatiana. The campaign involved arson, poisonings and even an automobile crash, according to a statement the U.S. Attorney’s office in Florida made.
On one occasion in August 2023, the indictment alleges one of the perpetrators crashed a vehicle into Tatiana’s car while she was inside.
In a separate indictment, Miami authorities allege a “second crew,” made up of more of the defendants, also carried out similar incriminating acts. Sergio also instructed the group to inject Tatiana with “a provided liquid substance to make her death appear to be a heart attack,” according to the indictment.
Those charged in connection with the case include Bayron Bennett, 33; Jerren Keith Howard, 38; Fausto Villar, 42; Avery Bivins, 36; Clement Johnson, 47; Vernon Green, 53; Diori Barnard, 47; Michael Jose Dulfo, 42; and Edner Etienne 27.
Bennett, Dulfo, Etienne and Howard got slammed with stalking and arson charges, among other offences. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind their actions, Sergio Pino, denied any connections to what they had been doing.
Sergio Had Denied His Involvement
Sergio Pino denied his involvement in the murder-for-hire conspiracy. However something was going on only he knew about. The day before he committed suicide, Sergio was reportedly trying to put his financial affairs in order.

According to depositions from his long-time girlfriend, his lawyer, and his brother, he was paying his bills, reassigning authority for several of his projects, and amending the list of trustees for one of his trusts.
On March 11, Sergio wrote a will authorizing his brother Carlos to manage his estate for the benefit of his four children. However, Tatiana, not mentioned in the will, has convinced a judge to revoke Carlos’ control over the estate.
