Tesla CEO Elon Musk left everyone in complete shock after he sacked Tesla EV boss Rebecca Tinucci and her team. This news has raised doubts about the future of Tesla’s EV charging network. According to the company CEO, employee layoffs should be considered a pruning process. “The way to think about it is any tree which grows, it needs pruning,” he said.
“This is the pruning exercise which we went through.” Elon Musk added, “We’re not giving up anything that is significant that I’m aware of.” He noted that Tesla isn’t as efficient as it ought to be. So he said, “It is time to reorganize the company for the next phase of growth.”
The Future of Tesla EV Charging Network
“Tesla still has plans to grow the Supercharger network, but at a slower pace for new locations, “Elon Musk tweeted. “The company’s focus will be on improving uptime and expanding existing locations.” Following this news, Electrify America mentioned its plans to have NACS chargers by 2025.
On the other hand, General Motors says that it still plans to transition to NACS. The EV charging industry is closely monitoring the changes made in the Supercharger team and their impacts on charging infrastructure.

Elon Musk Set To Cut 601 More Jobs in California
The Tesla CEO is set to lay off 601 employees in California following the country’s new law. The company began reducing its workforce globally last month due to reduced sales and increased competition. Musk stated that from April 15, he’ll start letting go of more than 10% of its workforce globally.
No wonder the EV charging team experienced a reduction in members. According to a familiar source, Elon Musk has fired several workers since April 15. Two Tesla executives also announced on X that they would leave the company.
One of them is Andrew Baglino, Senior vice president of powertrain and energy engineering. He stated that he had decided to leave the company after working there for 18 years.
Two Tesla Executives Resign
Andrew Baglino, one of the company executives who resigned, said it was tough to decide whether to stay or not. “I loved tackling nearly every problem we solved as a team and feel gratified to have contributed to the mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy,” he said.
According to Powertrain Energy, he had no plans except to spend time with his family and kids. Elon Musk thanked Baglino in a tweet, saying, “Few have contributed as much as you.” Rohan Patel, the senior global director of public policy, also announced that he would leave the company after working with them for 18 years.
Following the news of Tesla’s layoffs and resignations, Tesla shares fell by 4.8%. The company has lost close to ⅓ of its value this year as there have not been frequent sales of electric vehicles.

The sale of Tesla vehicles dropped greatly as competition increased within the industry. Despite the company’s price reduction, attracting customers has proved difficult. According to the company, they sold only 386,810 vehicles from January to March. This is 9% below the total of 423,000 cars they sold last year within the same quarter.
Tesla Set To Reveal Robotaxi in August
Tesla is set to unveil a Robotaxi on August 8. The company has been working on its electric car systems to enable them to drive autonomously. Elon Musk tweeted in March, “Tesla models with FSD (Full Self-Driving) will be superhuman to such a degree that it will seem strange in the future that humans drove cars, even while exhausted and drunk!”
After his announcement on the Robotaxi, his shares increased more than 3% in after-market trades. The Robotaxi has been tested several times in San Francisco. With this new development, individuals who own Tesla vehicles with FSD will also have their cars working as Robotaxis rather than just remaining idle in the garage.
