Popular TV personality Kelly Osbourne has been to rehab several times and says it has not always been helpful. In the new documentary, “TMZ Investigates: Matthew Perry and the Secret Celebrity Drug Ring,” Osbourne revealed that and many more shocking details about rehab.
Her relationship with addiction is a long and storied one, and she has come to accept it is a struggle she will endure for the rest of her life.
Kelly Osbourne Said Rehab Was Like Drug Addict University
As far as Kelly Osbourne is concerned, rehab is not always helpful. The TV personality said that the first rehab she checked into was essentially a “university on how to be a better drug addict.”
According to Osbourne, while at the facility, she picked up many tricks and things she could never have imagined as she mingled with other drug addicts there for treatment.

She added, “I’d also seen people threaten to leave until they got given what they wanted, whether it be Ambien for sleep or Valium for nerves — they would somehow end up getting it.” Osbourne also revealed how she believes staff members of rehab facilities take advantage of those struggling with substance abuse.
“They’ll sit outside of AA meetings looking for weak and vulnerable people that they encourage to go and relapse so they can then pick you up again,” she said. “I swear on everything that it is true, and it is heartbreaking.”
How Kelly Osbourne Became an Addict
According to a 2021 interview, Kelly Osbourne’s struggles with addiction began when she was prescribed opioid medication after undergoing surgery at age 13. She had apparently been falling sick often and was struggling with a bad case of tonsillitis that led them to give her some “crazy surgery,” and after that, they gave her Vicodin.
It gave her such relief, not just from the pain but also from her mental demons. The Fashion Police alum said, “All of a sudden, every single voice was silenced, and it felt like life gave me a hug.”
The Secret Behind Kelly Osbourne’s Weight Loss
Kelly Osbourne reportedly lost 85 pounds in 2020 and slimmed down again after welcoming her son, Sidney, in 2022. Her rapid weight loss became a scandal as many wondered how she pulled it off.
It turns out that Osbourne owes most of her weight loss in 2020 to a gastric sleeve surgery. And before the surgery, she reportedly had therapy to deal with emotional eating. Since she had the surgery, Osbourne has been working on her diet, cutting out sugar and carbohydrates, which aided her rapid weight loss, especially after her pregnancy.
The former Fashion Police cohost also takes physical fitness very seriously, adopting healthy eating and exercise habits.
Kelly Osbourne’s Ozempic Experience
Given how rapidly she lost weight, many internet users speculated that Osbourne had also joined the league of celebrities using Ozempic to lose weight rapidly. However, the TV personality has reportedly never used the drug for weight loss. And when the rumors got loud enough to reach her, she shut them down.
“I’ve never taken Ozempic,” she told People in May 2024. “I don’t know what Ozempic does to you other than what I saw it do to my mom. I think that it is the miracle drug in the right hands.”
Kelly Osbourne’s mother, Sharon, is among those who think the drug is a terrible invention, and while her daughter used to feel the same, she has since backtracked, convinced the drug can help people who actually need it.
