Evidence suggests the suspect in the recent attack attempt on Donald Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh, hated him enough to want to murder him. However, the former president was again lucky as Routh was apprehended before anything happened.
The FBI is investigating the incident as an assassination attempt. Unsurprisingly, looking into Routh’s digital footprint shows that he has enough motive to want to take out Trump. Unfortunately, some say the things he posted are similar to what top Democratic leaders have been expressing or implying.
This has reignited speculation on the mainstream media’s role in political machinations.
Was Donald Trump Shot At?
As far as the FBI is concerned, there have been two assassination attempts on Donald Trump this year, and in one, he was actually shot at. The first attempt occurred at the 2024 Pennsylvania Rally on July 13, 2024.

It involved Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired shots at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident left Trump injured and killed a rally attendee. The second attempt is the most recent and involves Ryan Wesley Routh, a radical Trump hater who may have just despised him enough to risk taking his life.
Ryan Wesley Routh’s Rambling On Social Media
Routh was never afraid to be himself on the internet and campaigned vigorously for worthy causes. For example, Routh cares enough about the homeless in Hawaii to build housing for them. He is so bothered about what is happening in Ukraine that he has set up a site to recruit fighters to help the country.
And he has unfiltered hatred for Donald Trump, even giving the Iranians permission to “assassination.” “You are free to assassinate Trump,” Routh wrote of Iran in a self-published book in 2023, “Ukraine’s Unwinnable War.”
The book described the former president as a “fool” and “buffoon” for the Capitol riot and the “tremendous blunder” of backing out of the Iran nuclear deal. Perhaps one of the reasons he feels so disturbed by Trump’s actions is that he once supported the former president’s party.
According to Routh, in his book, he was one of those who voted for Trump before, and now he must share the blame because Trump “ended up being brainless.” Authorities arrested Routh on Sunday, September 15, after reportedly being caught stalking Trump as he golfed in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He had an SKS-style rifle with him, which convinced them he was trying to assassinate the GOP presidential nominee.
Did Donald Trump Lose an Ear?
No, Donald Trump’s ear stayed on despite the Pennsylvania rally shooting. However, according to a letter from Rep. Ronny Jackson, a former White House physician, Trump sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear.
The bullet reportedly struck the former president’s ear during the assassination attempt at a campaign rally. The gunman has since been identified as Thomas Crooks. He was shot and killed after opening fire from an elevated position near Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
However, like anything related to Trump, there is a lot of conspiracy and speculation surrounding the topic. The speculations are partially fueled by Trump’s refusal to release his medical records following the treatment.
Is Trump Leading the Polls?
Current reports claim Kamala Harris is leading Donald Trump in 2024 polls, albeit with a minor difference.
According to the New York Times, Harris leads Trump by three percentage points in the national polling average. She also has an edge in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, where she is ahead of Trump by four points.
However, Harris and the host of Democrats who have rallied behind her can’t rest yet. The race remains a tight one, especially in battleground states where the margin has often fallen within the margin of error.
