Sai De Silva met her husband during a vacation to Costa Rica with her friends. She narrated that the group decided to party and eat after “10 days of surfing” when she met Craig. Interestingly, fate brought them together on what was the last day of the trip.
“I met him at a swim-up bar of a private resort that I randomly found during our stay. He was on a work trip, and I had the world’s worst attitude,” she recalled in a blog post. “I can’t lie; I was a little hungover from the night before and suffered from a lack of personality due to my self-inflicting sickness,” she further explained.
“My head was killing me, and I was in no mood to make small talk with a guy I didn’t know,” she stated. “A few minutes passed by before he insulted me, which actually made me laugh and gained my attention.” Sai De Silva noted that she admired that he was funny, and they had a conversation, which made them realize they had a lot in common.
After their relationship began, Silva and Craig soon faced the challenge of long distance. Sai De Silva’s husband, who resided in Canada, had to travel to New York to see her. The extent of sacrifice he made in the relationship gave Silva reasons to be suspicious at some point. She thought he was too good to be true, and something had to be wrong with him.
“He was so different from what I was used to that I didn’t know how to react,” she recalled. However, she noted that she “put my self-sabotaging ways” aside and gave him a chance.
