Douglas Emhoff, born on October 13, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York, spent most of his childhood days in Old Bridge and Matawan, New Jersey. Emhoff grew up with his parents, Mike and Barbara, and his siblings, Andy and Jamie.
His family relocated to southern California when he was a teenager, and yes, he established his career! Emhoff got his higher education at the University of California before earning his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
He started his professional journey by venturing into many fields, such as entertainment, media law, and sports. In 2000, he opened his law firm, which he later sold to Venable, LLP, in 2006. Emhoff became a partner at DLA Piper when he and Kamla Harris moved to Washington, D.C. At that time, he represented notable clients like Dolarian Capital, Merck, and Walmart.
When Harris announced her candidacy, Emhoff took an absent leave from his firm to support her campaign. Eventually, he resigned from DLA Piper in November 2021, prior to Harris’ inauguration as Vice President.
