Daniel Day-Lewis has put retirement behind him to feature in a film directed by his son Ronan Day-Lewis. This comes seven years after his last movie, and many of his fans are excited.
Ronan’s project was announced Tuesday by Focus Features and Plan B, which will partner to make it a success. The film, titled “Anemone,” is Ronan Day-Lewis’ directorial debut and will star his father, Sean Bean, and Samantha Morton.

According to reports, the upcoming film was co-written by Daniel Day-Lewis and his son. The actor was also pictured alongside Bean riding a motorbike through Manchester, England, on Tuesday, October 1, causing speculation about his impending return to acting.
The last movie the talented Daniel was involved in was Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2017 film “Phantom Thread.” After the movie, the 67-year-old said he was quitting acting, and that’s what he did.

Speaking about it in 2017, he said, “All my life, I’ve mouthed off about how I should stop acting, and I don’t know why it was different this time, but the impulse to quit took root in me, and that became a compulsion. It was something I had to do.”
Since then, he has been traveling under the radar and making rare public appearances. In January, he made a surprise appearance at the National Board of Review Awards to present an award to Martin Scorsese, who directed him in “Gangs of New York” (2002) and “The Age of Innocence” (1993).

The movie, “Anemone,” is currently in production and reportedly explores “the intricate relationships between fathers, sons, and brothers and the dynamics of familial bonds.” Ronan Day-Lewis, 26, is a painter whose works have been exhibited in New York. His first international solo exhibition took place in Hong Kong.
“We could not be more excited to partner with a brilliant visual artist in Ronan Day-Lewis on his first feature film alongside Daniel Day-Lewis as his creative collaborator,” said Peter Kujawski, chair of Focus Features.
According to Kujawski, the father-son duo has written a “truly exceptional script,” one they look forward to bringing to audiences alongside the team at Plan B.
