Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” franchise was a massive success as books. However, when it was adapted into a movie in 2008, fans of the supernatural teen romance fandom went crazy, and many more previous skeptics of the genre were converted.
The movie instantly went viral and pushed the main characters, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, to A-list stardom. Since the franchise ended, Stewart and Pattinson have gone on to lead successful careers, mainly in the indie film world.

Bella Swan, Played By Kristen Stewart
After the “Twilight” series ended, Kristen Stewart revealed that the prom was her favorite scene in all of the movies. “This is number one on my list for a reason,” Stewart told EW. ”I remember stepping on Rob’s feet in my sneakers, and we listened to that song [‘Flightless Bird, American Mouth’ by Iron & Wine] all night. It was the end of the shoot, and we were all so close and not wanting to go home yet.”
According to Stewart, it is the one scene she can not get past watching without tearing up. Not that she’s one bit “embarrassed about it.” The fame “Twilight” afforded Stewart has worked in her favour as she has been able to translate it into freedom when choosing roles.
One of her first gigs post-Twilight was in another big-budget romance, “Snow White and the Huntsman.” However, Stewart has gravitated toward indie and art-house projects. Some of the projects linked to her include “Still Alice” and “Clouds of Sils Maria,” for which she became the first American actress to win a César award.
Stewart continues to lead films, such as “Charlie’s Angels” (2019), “Underwater” (2020), and “Happiest Season” (2020). She earned her first Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín’s 2021 biopic/fable, “Spencer.”
Stewart has been less active in her love life. In the years after Twilight’s conclusion, she briefly dated Pattinson but is now engaged to screenwriter Dylan Meyer.
Edward Cullen, Played By Robert Pattinson
Since the Twilight saga ended, Pattinson, like Stewart, has developed an affinity for art-house projects. He has taken on roles in a variety of indie and auteur projects, including David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” (2012) and “Maps to the Stars” (2014). He returned to blockbuster filmmaking when he was featured in Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” (2020) and Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” (2022).
Pattinson is currently engaged to actor-musician Suki Waterhouse. The pair got engaged in 2023 after they were linked in 2018. They welcomed their first child in March 2024.
Jacob Black, Played By Taylor Lautner
After Twilight, he mostly stepped back from the spotlight, participating in only a handful of projects, including “The Ridiculous Six” (2015) and the TV series “Cuckoo” and “Scream Queens.” Lautner returned to film after a six-year break when he was featured opposite Kevin James in the 2022 Netflix football comedy “Home Team.” Lautner married Taylor Dome, a nurse, in 2018.
