Macy Gray is one of the many people that got caught up in the ozempic craze as multitudes continue to seek ways to lose weight as rapidly as possible. Gray recently opened up about her experience using Ozempic and dealing with its side effects.
Those who use ozempic have reported various side effects, including loose skin. However, the side effects were more of an internal nature for Gray, and she has come out of the other side with patience to lose her fat the right way.
How Ozempic Dealt With Macy Gray
The 56-year-old opened up about her experience with the medication during a recently aired episode of MTV’s “The Surreal Life.” The talented actress and singer was reportedly speaking to her castmates about how Ozempic impacted her digestive system.
Macy Gray told her classmates, “Oh boy, my stomach hurts. I’ve just been really constipated. I took Ozempic. I can’t go to the bathroom, and I was up all night.”

According to the outlet, Gray explained, during a confessional on the show, her reasoning behind using the medication. It saw her confess to being mildly “vain.”
Macy Gray said, “Quietly, I’m kind of a vain person. I’ve gained a lot of weight over the past couple years… So, I thought, okay, I’m not taking [the weight] off the right way, let me see if I can get one of these Ozempic.”
Gray also explained that she was attempting to lose weight ahead of her time on “The Surreal Life.” “I was actually trying to take it off [the weight] before the show because I didn’t want to be super fat on TV, but here we are,” she said.
What a New Study Revealed About Ozempic
The world continues to use ozempic, and despite the demerits, they may keep doing so. Especially now that researchers are discovering more positive benefits as well. A new study has revealed more information about the potential benefits of using the medication.
According to Newsweek, researchers from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine have been looking into the possibility that Ozempic could curb one’s desire to smoke cigarettes.
Their study reportedly drew from the experiences of Ozempic users with type 2 diabetes, “who noted a decreased desire to smoke while taking the medication.” In addition, researchers are reportedly looking into Ozempic’s effects on “treating tobacco use disorders (TUD).” However, “further clinical trials” will need to be conducted.
Other Celebrities Have Also Discussed Using Ozempic
Macy Gray is one of the latest celebrities to confess to dabbling with ozempic; she is not the only one who has done it. Reports have revealed that Kandi Burruss spoke about her experience with the medication in June.
At the time, Burruss told Page Six that she was on the drug in 2023. However, it did not succeed at curbing her appetite. She explained, “The sad thing about it is when you see it work for other people and it doesn’t work for you, it makes you depressed …It makes you feel like, ‘What’s wrong with me? Why is it not working for me?’”
Ultimately, Burruss said that she had to stop using Ozempic and take a fresh approach to her weight loss, after which she began to achieve her goals.
More About Ozempic and Its Side Effects
Ozempic is a subcutaneous injection used in people suffering from type 2 diabetes. It may cause mild side effects, like the stomach pain Macy Gray complained about, or more serious side effects, such as diabetic retinopathy.

Specifically, Ozempic was created to help lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes (when used alongside diet and exercise). It is also used to help reduce the risk for certain cardiovascular problems (related to the heart or blood vessels) in adults with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
People these days are using the drug as a way to lose weight quicker; however, they have to deal with the side effects of using it for that purpose. Some of the more obvious side effects include the ozempic face, which many dermatologists say has become too widespread among the population.
