Usher is back on stage!
The R&B star, who has been missing in action for quite a while now, has reappeared to douse the tension and put his fans at ease. After taking a break and postponing the first shows of his much-anticipated Past Present Future Tour, he has resumed doing what he knows how to do best.
Since he announced plans to begin a career-spanning tour in December 2023, fans have been looking forward to having him in their cities. At the time, the R&B legend had just concluded his My Way The Las Vegas Residency Show.
He named the show to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his second studio album. The show saw him perform at the Sin City’s prestigious Park MGM. After the announcement, Usher satisfied his fan’s appetites by releasing an album in February.
Thereafter, he performed at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. He shared the stage with some industry greats such as Will.i.am, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and H.E.R. However, anticipation soon turned to disappointment. Usher shocked fans in early August by announcing a postponement of the first three shows of the tour and giving reasons.

Usher Says the Shows Must Go On Now That He Has Recovered
About a week after the scheduled date of the earlier postponed first show of the tour, Usher was on stage again. On Tuesday, August 20, the 45-year-old multiple Grammy Award winner kicked off the tour in grand style. He began with a sold-out show at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The next day, he sold out the same venue.
During the shows, he performed some of his iconic tracks such as “Confessions,” “U Don’t Have to Call,” “Yeah!” and “Lovers and Friends.” The icing on the cake was his performance of some songs from his most recent album.
From Washington, D.C., his next stop was Baltimore, where he performed on August 23 and 24 at the CFG Bank Arena on Baltimore Street. Afterward, he will round off the North American segment of the tour in December. After that, the tour will take a few months before moving to Europe.
The tour will resume on March 29 at the famous O2 Arena in London. The hall will host eight performances. Thereafter, Usher will move to other European locations such as Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam. The tour will cycle back and end in London in May 2025.
Why Did Usher Postpone His Tour?
Usher explained his reasons for canceling the first three shows of his tour. He explained that he sustained a neck injury while rehearsing his performances. Initially, he announced that he would postpone only the first show, which was to be held on August 14. But the next day, he added two more shows to the list of postponed events.
He explained to fans that the decision wasn’t easy for him, but he had to take some more time to recover. “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night,” he stated in his August 15 statement.
“Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week,” he added.
Usher postponed the August 14 and 15 shows to the end of the year. He was to hold the postponed shows at the State Farm Arena in his hometown in Atlanta. They will now be held on December 9, 10, and 12.
In his posts on his X and Instagram accounts, he stated that during his three-decade career, he has given his all to his performances and created unforgettable moments for his fans. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well,” he assured. “Which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second rest and heal.”

He Recently Unveiled His Ninth Album
In January, Usher released the track list for his ninth studio album Coming Home. The reveal came just before his performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show. The album, which Usher released on February 9, has a number of interesting collaborations.
The album featured guest appearances from H.E.R, BTS’ Jungkook, Latto, and Nigerian singer Burnaboy. Usher also collaborated with Summer Walker, 21 Savage, Pheelz, and The-Dream. It is a 20-track album that the multiple award-winning singer promised would impress his fans.
“U been asking…so I had to deliver,” he wrote, with a photo of the track titles and collaborations. Some of the songs contained tracks that he had previously released.
How Much Is Usher Paid per Show?
Considering his status as an A-list singer and entertainer of over three decades, Usher is pretty rich. Not surprisingly, Usher’s 2024 net worth is estimated at $180 million. Usher seemed to have seen his musical success coming. His financial standing is a fulfillment of his 2004 prediction that he would become one of the wealthiest in the industry.
Reports show that Usher gets a few hundred thousand dollars for every show. His gross ticket sales for every show stand at around $1 million.
