Prince William earns money for being born. Just kidding. He is a working member of the royal estate and he gets paid a lot for his work annually. Royalty in this century is not as powerful as it used to be. However, the British monarchs have remained greatly relevant and wealthy.
It is not surprising that Prince Williams, whose father currently sits on the throne, will be getting a huge salary. Still, according to this new Royal Report, it’s a lot of 0s.
How Much Does Prince William Earn Annually?
According to a new royal report, Prince Williams, the heir to the throne, earned tens of millions in his first year as manager of the Duchy of Cornwall estate.

Prince William was paid $30 million from his first full year’s income from the Duchy of Cornwall estate. He inherited the title and estate when his father, King Charles, ascended the throne.
His salary was revealed after the Duchy of Cornwall published its Integrated Annual Report on Thursday, July 24 (local time). The report revealed a distributable surplus of £23.6 million ($30.4 million) for the 2023-2024 financial year, Prince William’s first full year as the Duke of Cornwall.
That amount covers the official, charitable, and private expenses of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children.
What Does Prince William Do?
The Prince manages the Duchy of Cornwall. The estate was established by King Edward III in 1337 to provide funds for the heir to the throne. It is a vast estate worth over $1 billion. It spans 130,000 acres across 23 counties in England and Wales and includes land, farms, houses, and other assets to support the heir and their family.
As a working member of the royal family, Prince William doesn’t receive a traditional income. Instead, the Duchy of Cornwall largely covers his annual expenses. Prince William reportedly pays income tax on the entire income he gets from the estate after subtracting household expenses; however, they’ve not been specified.
After Queen Elizabeth’s death, a royal source said that Prince William was burying himself in his role as head of the Duchy of Cornwall. Since he inherited it, The Prince of Wales has made several stops in the estate, including an overnight trip in May when he visited the site of the Duchy of Cornwall’s innovative housing project aimed at addressing homelessness in Newquay.
He has also been pictured against the Duchy Of Cornwall Nursery to open The Orangery restaurant, which has been built as part of a nine-month extension project to create sustainable visitor spaces at the garden center.

The report also highlighted updates to Prince William’s patronages, including a change in his role at The Football Association. He has always been a dedicated football fan, and now he will get to serve as the patron of the FA, a position formerly held by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
William had been president of the FA since 2006, but this change reflects his senior role as Prince of Wales. The Prince will also assume new patronages with the Welsh Guards Charity and the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, become president of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association, and transition from president to patron of Fields in Trust.
