It seems Nick Carter is done with being silent. Recently, he officially fired back at Melissa Schuman’s lawsuits, denying her allegations of sexual assault and launching a counterattack. According to court documents, Nick Carter is seeking $2.5 million in damages from Schuman, who sued him in April 2023.
For context, Schumann, now 39, claimed that Carter, then 22, had sexually assaulted her at his Santa Monica apartment in 2003. According to her, the incident happened after they worked together on the teen thriller “The Hollow.”

Nick Carter’s Counterclaim to Melissa Schuman’s Lawsuit
According to Nick Carter, Schuman aims to use her false and defamatory statements to revive her flagging career. In his July 26 counterclaim filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Carter reveals that Schuman’s blog posts, documentary appearances and press conferences between September 2023 and May 2024 were all intentional.

He describes it as a part of a deliberate campaign to damage his reputatuon and ruin his business dealings. Additionally, Carter reveals that their 2003 encounter was consensual and that Schuman’s accusations are just attempts to regain the spotlight.
Through his defense team, Carter denied all allegations in Schuman’s lawsuits. He argued that her complaint lacks factual basis and is barred by the statute of limitations and the unclean hands doctrine. Of course, you know this prevents relief for those who have engaged in unethical behavior.

Notably, Schuman previously came out in 2017 and shared that Carter allegedly raped her while they were working on the project mentioned earlier. In her then blogpost, she stated that after she was invited to his Californian home, they started kissing in the bathroom before he performed oral sex on her, despite not consenting.
Schuman further noted that despite revealing her status as a virgin who was keeping herself till marriage, Carter raped her. According to Carter’s attorney Liane K Wakayama, Melissa Schuman has been peddling the story and her allegations remain false.

Wakayama also noted that in light of the progress in Nevada, such a repsinse is at once predicted and pathetic. The attorney also added that Melissa Schuman’s publicity stunt won’t change Carter’s mind to hold her and her co-conspirators responsible for the pain and suffering they have caused.
In addition to the sexual assualt charges, Melissa Schuman is also suing Nick Carter for “Intentional infliction of emotional distress.” According to Schuman, Carter started to “manipulate and torment” her, saying, “Why did you make me do that.”
Another Nick Carter’s Sexual Battery Case

Ruth alleges that Carter sexually assaulted her on his tour bus in 2001 when she was just 17. Court documents reveal that Ruth claims Carter invited her onto his bus after a concert in Tacoma, Washington, and offered her a mysterious red drink he called “VIP juice.”
Being an autism and cerebral palsy patient, Ruth alleges that Carter forced her into performing oral sex and continued to rape her on the bed. A source close to Carter has denied the allegations, with his attorney, Michael Holtz, calling the claim “legally meritless” and “entirely untrue.”
Holtz also suggested that Ruth’s allegations have changed over time and are part of a “press stunt” orchestrated by her lawyer. Ruth claims she contracted HPV as a result of the encounter and was a “virgin beforehand.”
