Martha Stewart’s ex-husband, Andy Stewart, and his current wife claim she is using her controversial new documentary to “relitigate” their turbulent marriage which ended in divorce more than three decades ago.
The “Martha” documentary started streaming on Netflix on October 30, a couple of weeks after its trailer premiered on October 10. Andy, 86, and his third wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart, 56, took to Shyla’s Facebook page to address how Andy is painted in the “sensationalized” trailer on October 12.
Why Did Andrew Stewart Martha’s Ex Husband Attack Her?
According to Andy Stewart’s post, which was also signed by Shyla, his marriage to Martha Stewart was “a painful and abusive marriage” and they divorced acrimoniously in 1990. Since it ended, Andy has quietly moved on with his life. But it seems Martha has not as she continues to publicly “relitigate” the marriage.

According to a source, Andy has told those close to him that he feels as though Martha is “stalking” him by once again drawing attention to the toxic relationship they had with the documentary. Andy reportedly wants Martha to finally “move on” with her life, “find a man” and get married again. Here’s what Martha had to say about Andy in the documentary.
“I don’t know how many different girlfriends he had … but I think there were quite a few … If you’re married and you think you’re happily married, and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s–t. Look at him as a piece of s–t and get out of it, get out of that marriage. But I couldn’t do that, couldn’t walk away.”
While discussing the documentary, particularly Andy’s infidelity, the interviewer also reminds Martha that she stepped out on Andy while they were married. “Didn’t you have an affair early on in the relationship?”she was asked. She replied that she didn’t think Andy knew about it and admitted that she had a “very brief affair with a very attractive Irish man.”
What Is Martha Stewart’s Ex Husband up to Today?
In their Facebook post, Andy and Shyla highlight how happy they are with their current union. “The juxtaposition of Andy’s early life with the joy-filled, purpose-led, loving marriage we live today is striking,” reads their post, which includes a number of photos of them.
Andy and his wife wish Martha and every other person gets to witness such “true love” and the peace that comes from it. Andy and Martha have been estranged for the past 20 years. However Andy’s sister, New York artist and socialite Diane Stewart Love, 83, says that Martha still has affection for Andy and “hasn’t let go.”

Andy has moved on from his relationship with Martha and now just wants her to do the same. He wants to stop hearing her dredge up their tumultuous marriage and acrimonious divorce every now and then.
Andy’s sister believes Martha chose to participate in the film, because she has not forgotten. “Some people never forget. Some people move on, some don’t,” she said. “Martha has always cared deeply for my brother. She just hasn’t let go of that.”
