Sarah Drew was part of the “Grey’s Anatomy” cast for eight seasons, starting in Season 6. She joined the show as part of the merger with Seattle Grace and Mercy West, which also onboarded Jackson Avery. Drew’s character got so deeply involved in the show’s plot that when her time with it ended, fans were shocked to learn she was leaving.
Drew left the show alongside Jessica Capshaw, who played Arizona Robbins. However, later, Drew revealed how she really felt about her exit.

She shared them on a new episode of Jessica and Camilla Luddington’s podcast “Call It What It Is.” “We were unceremoniously let go in a way that felt mean and unjust,” Drew said while discussing how she and Jessica were suddenly let go.
Drew directed all six episodes of the Grey’s Anatomy web series, “Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team,” which followed the new class of interns, including Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli). So after she got fired, she still had to walk some red carpets and do interviews because the web series was nominated for a 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.

In 2018, Sarah Drew did an exit interview with Vulture in which she likened her exit from the show to “attending [her] own funeral.” The statement made headlines. However, according to Drew, the true meaning was misconstrued.
Drew explained on the podcast that she only made such a comparison because the outpouring of love was “so enormous” it felt like “watching people say all the things they love about you, and you’re dead.”
During the podcast, Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw also recalled a fan campaign involving a plane flying overhead during their lunch break from filming one day. It reportedly had a banner professing love for the pair.
Despite the sudden nature of her departure, Drew says she holds no grudges against the show or its producers.
