In a recent interview with The Times about the upcoming film, the “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” star opened up about his previous relationship with Aniston, 55.
The former couple started dating in 2011 and got engaged the following year. Three years later, they got married in a backyard ceremony held in August 2015. Unfortunately, they split in early 2018. However, since the divorce, the two have remained close friends. The 53-year-old actor reaffirmed their friendship in the interview, saying, “She is still very dear to me.”

During his interview, Theroux also commented on Aniston’s recent confrontation with Senator J.D. Vance because of his statements in 2021. Back then, Vance was gunning for Vice President Kamala Harris, classifying her as one of the “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
On July 24, Aniston, 40, took to her Instagram Stories to express disbelief that there is a chance Vance, 40, could become the next Vice President of the U.S. after hearing his resurfaced 2021 comments about Harris.
Notably, Vance is Donald Trump’s 2024 running mate. “All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day,” Aniston, who has been candid about her struggles in the past, wrote at the time.
“I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option,” Aniston continued. “Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
“Of course, yeah, I feel protective,” Theroux said while praising Aniston for fighting the backlash that came with calling out Vance years after he made the statement.
