A newly-released 911 audio has revealed details of the spat between dancer Artem Chigvintsev and his now estranged wife, Nikki Garcia. In the audio, a 911 dispatcher disclosed that Chigvintsev accused his wife of throwing shoes at him.
On August 29, 2024, trouble erupted between “Dancing With the Stars” pro Artem Chigvintsev and his wife, Nikki Garcia, that made headlines. The Russian-born dancer had been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and freed on bail.
Now, reporters have released the recordings of Chigvintsev’s call before his arrest. The details are pretty insightful. The audio of the 911 call revealed that Chigvintsev also requested medical assistance.
In the call, the dispatcher reports that it began by “requesting medical, but now, he is stating he got into an argument with his wife, and his wife threw shoes at RP [reporting party].” The dispatcher is also heard announcing, “There is a child on the scene,” before stating, “Medical en route. There’s an active 415 (referring to ‘disturbing the peace’) in the background responsible.”
Artem Chigvintsev later told the dispatcher to cancel plans for a medical intervention, after which the dispatcher said, “RP is stating no medical is needed now.”
On arriving at the house, the dispatcher revealed that they met a child at home and in the custody of the mother. Also, responders allegedly had to separate husband and wife physically. About an hour later, cops arrived at the Napa Valley, California home.

What’s Going On With Artem Chigvintsev?
On arrival at the scene, cops found sufficient proof to believe that Chigvintsev had assaulted his wife, Nikki Garcia, 40, an offense under the California code. For context, California law states that it is illegal to cause injury to a spouse or co-inhabitant.
Authorities arrested him and charged him with corporal injury to his spouse just a few minutes before 10 a.m. Later, Chigvintsev secured his freedom on a $25,000 bond. Shockingly, this incident took place just after the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
On the anniversary, the couple celebrated each other and the love they shared. Chigvintsev had written, “Happy anniversary, my love, can’t see my life without you. You are my everything ❤️” via his Instagram account alongside photos of them together.
Nikki Garcia, a television personality and former WWE professional wrestler, celebrated the occasion by sharing the lyrics of Elvis Presley’s song, “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” She then wrote a touching message about their love.
“This song is our love story,” she wrote, with a video of their wedding day. “I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with He & God. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on.”
“And that’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be. 🙏🏼✨,” she added. “Happy Birthday, @theartemc, I love you.”
Who Is Artem Chigvintsev in a Relationship With?
Artem Chigvintsev met Nikki Garcia in 2017 on the set of the 25th season of the dance competition TV series “Dancing With the Stars.” They were paired together and developed attraction towards each other. Garcia, who was engaged to John Cena at the time, broke it off some months later.
After their elimination in the seventh week of the show, they didn’t see each other for a while. Chigvintsev and Garcia sparked engagement rumors in December 2018 after cameras captured them together at a farmer’s market. However, Garcia later revealed that it was their first date.
