Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky worries about the possibility of Trump returning to the White House. He criticized Trump’s assertion that he could resolve Ukraine’s conflict with Russia within 24 hours, calling it “very dangerous.”
In a Channel 4 News interview, Zelensky invited the former present and Republican front-runer to Kyiv. The invitation was for Trump to fulfill his promise. Zenlensky addressed Trump, saying, “I invite you to Kyiv, Ukraine. If you can stop the war in 24 hours, I think it will be enough to come.”
Following the invitation, there was no response from Trump’s campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung. Moreover, Zelensky still worries about Unilateral U.S. action without considering Ukraine’s perspective. He emphasized the lack of details on Trump’s “peace plan.”
Zelensky further described Trump’s rhetoric as “very dangerous.” He feared Trump’s proposed solution might force Ukraine into significant concessions to Russia. “Trump will decide unilaterally, excluding both sides,” he said.
The president further worried about Trump’s comments: “It’s not just about Russia; it’s about us.” Zelensky added, “If he declares this publicly, it’s unnerving. I’ve seen many victims, but this is truly stressing me.”

“Because even if his Idea (for ending the war) — that no one has heard yet — doesn’t work,” he added. “He will do anything to implement his idea anyway. And this worries me a little.” However, Trump insists he can negotiate an end to the two-year war.
The former president cited good relations with Russian and Ukrainian leaders. Throughout his political career, Trump consistently praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, even after the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Days after Russian tanks entered Ukraine, at a Georgia rally, Trump praised Putin as a “Smart” political player.
He admired Russia’s swift takeover of a vast “great piece of land,” suggesting the sanctions were minor. The U.S. House of Representatives impeached Trump over allegations that he pressured Zelensky to pursue a politically motivated probe. This aimed to harm Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential chances.
In addition, Trump withheld $400 million in Congress-approved military aid meant for Ukraine’s confrontation with Russian-backed separatists in the east. However, the Senate later acquitted Trump of these impeachment charges.
On the other hand, the head of the U.N. atomic watchdog warned that mines were re-planted. This was around the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest. Moreover, this came months after a team of international inspectors reported on their removal.

Besides, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi warned that mines in the buffer zone of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant are “inconsistent.” He warned that according to the organization’s website, they do not align with safety standards.
A readout on the organization’s website also revealed that an IAEA team they assigned to monitor safety found mines in the same area. However, they removed them in November 2023. Consequently, the head of Ukraine’s state nuclear company, Petro Kotin, referred to the alleged mine planting as “another crime.”
In a recent update, Kotin said the situation at the plant “will remain fragile and dangerous as long as the Russians are there.” The IAEA also constantly worries the war may lead to a radiation leak from Zaporizhzhia, a top-10 nuclear plant.
Although the plant’s reactors are offline, it still needs power and qualified staff for safety features. Also, Russian forces reportedly shelled Huliaipole, a southern Ukrainian town. The attack injured a resident in his yard, according to local Gov. Yuriy Malashko.
Also, Russian forces shelled southern Kherson, killing one civilian and injuring three, according to regional Ukraine officials. Similarly, in Russia, near the Ukrainian border, a drone struck a gas pipeline on Belgorod’s outskirts. While Regional Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov blamed Ukraine, he confirmed no injuries.
