On the night of Sunday, March 10, 2024, Donald Trump unleashed a scathing critique of Jimmy Kimmel’s Oscars performance. He described it as “boring” and “disjointed.” He further labeled Kimmel the “worst host” ever, citing specifics lacking.
During the Oscars, Kimmel read out Trump’s Truth Social post in a live rebuttal on the stage just before the final award for Best Picture. “Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars?” Trump’s remark read.
He continued, “His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.” Responding with humor, Kimmel acknowledged Trump’s viewership and said, “Isn’t it past your jail time?”
Notably, this exchange comes as Trump and Joe Biden held dueling rallies in Georgia on Saturday, March 9. At Trump’s rally, he denied allegations from author E Jean Carroll, who previously won a defamation trial against him, stating that her accusations were “false.”

Trump’s Oscar Rant: ‘Parasite’ Controversy, Nostalgia, and a Dig at Brad Pitt
Trump’s recent critique of the Oscars isn’t a one-time occurrence; it is a recurring trend. In 2021, he argued that “The Oscars” lacked the importance and elegance of the term “The Academy Awards.” Mocking the show’s ratings, he tweeted, “If they keep up with the current ridiculous formula, it will only get worse – if that’s possible.”
In 2020, Trump’s attention veered off during a rally. He ranted about the Best Picture Award going to Bong Joon-ho’s acclaimed satire “Parasite.” He questioned the choice, saying, “And the winner was a movie from South Korea. What the hell was all that about?” He continued, “We got enough problems with South Korea on trade, and on top of it they give the best movie of the year. Was it good?”
Trump further lamented the perceived decline in the quality of films. He said he craved classics like “Gone with the Wind” and “Sunset Boulevard.” Nostagically, he said, “Can we get Gone with the Wind back, please? Sunset Boulevard! So many great movies.”
However, his critiques extended to actors as well. He singled out Brad Pitt, who won Best Supporting Actor for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” that night. Dismissing Pitt as “a little wiseguy,” Trump stated that he wasn’t a fan of Pitt’s.

Trump Blamed “La La Land” Mix-Up Blamed on Politics
In 2017, Trump, known for his commentary on pop culture, weighed in on the Oscar’s Best Picture mix-up. That year, “La La Land” won the award over “Moonlight.” Trump attributed the confusion to a focus on politics, reporting to Breitbart News. He stated, “They were focused so hard on politics that they didn’t get the act together at the end.”
Trump Calls for Kimmel’s Replacement
Continuing his latest rant against the Academy Awards, Trump suggested that George Stephanopoulos, a US TV presenter, replace Jimmy Kimmel. He referred to Stephanopoulos as “another washed-up but cheap ABC talent.”
Expanding his criticism to the Oscars, Trump deemed the show “a really bad politically correct show.” He described it as “disjointed, boring, and unfair.” Moreover, he advocated for awarding those who truly deserve them.
He also noted that he hoped such a change might revive the Oscar’s audience and TV ratings, ending with his trademark slogan, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Kimmel’s Rebellious Move
While chatting with Ripa and Consuelos, Kimmel revealed that some individuals advised him against reading Trump’s Oscars critique aloud. However, he humorously admitted to ignoring the advice. He said, “They are like, ‘You’ve got a little bit of time,’ and I was like, ‘I’m reading the Trump tweet.'”
“Then, they said again, ‘No, no, don’t read that,” Kimmel shared with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Yes, I am.'” Reflecting on the event, Kimmel said he was “feeling pretty good,” especially since it marked his fourth time hosting the Oscars.
Kimmel’s Take on Oscars Finale
Kimmel also chimed in on the viral final moments of the show, where AI Pacino presented the Best Picture award to “Oppenheimer” in an awkward manner. Instead of reading the nominees, Pacino opened the envelope and said, “And my eyes see ‘Oppenheimer.'”
Amused by Pacino’s awkward presentation, Kimmel said, “I guess he’s never watched an awards show before. It seems like everyone in America knows the rhythm of how it’s supposed to go … down to the ‘And the Oscar goes to’ But not AI Pacino! God bless him.”
