There was heavy friction between Kody Brown and Robyn Brown during a recent episode of “Sister Wives.” The couple had a fierce disagreement that caused Kody to leave their home. Kody’s relationship with his estranged children was the bone of contention as the reality show star struggled to remedy his family’s disintegration.
Text on screen during the October 6 installment of the reality show’s season 19 showed a “heated exchange” before cameras started filming. On the Sunday episode, Robyn, 45, expressed her displeasure over what she regarded as Kody’s unseriousness in making peace with many of his older children.
Speaking on the matter during his confessional, Kody gave more details about the reason for the disagreement. “Robyn is extremely upset that I’m not reaching out more to my children,” he said. Kody has more than a dozen children between himself and his three exes, Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown.
“I’m not gonna sit here and fight with you have a rift in our relationship caused by these people who have created the biggest rift in my life. I’m not doing that. So I just decided I need to take off,” Kody argued. The disagreement prompted Kody to leave their Flagstaff, Arizona, home before the episode’s filming began.

Why Robyn Is Worried About Kody’s Behavior
Robyn repeatedly requested that Kody invest more effort in reaching out to the older children who she says “are hurting.” She compared the situation to what transpired between herself and her biological father, who was absent from her life. Robyn believes that Kody is creating excuses for the gulf between himself and the children, just like her dad.
“I’m having a hard time not feeling like losing respect for you a little,” Robyn said to Kody. In his defense, Kody claimed that he had done a lot in extending an olive branch to the children. “I’m not gonna do it with a rejection every single time,” he said. “I’m not abandoning my children. They have betrayed me,” he explained after returning to the house.
“But they are kids,” Robyn retorted. “No, they’re adults,” Kody told her, later adding in a confessional, “Some people think that parental-child relationships don’t have to be reciprocal, but when they’re adults, yes they do,” Kody answered.
During her confessional, Robyn expressed her frustration over Kody’s failure to do what it takes to make peace. “If I were him, I would be calling, emailing, texting, maybe showing up, flying out there, you know, whatever,” she said.
But Kody believes he has gone as far as he can go at the moment. He also stated that he wasn’t going to beg his children to restore their relationship with him. “So I’ve spent a year here just lamenting the situation,” Kody said, referring to the crack in the family.
The conflict follows years of fractured relationships between Kody, Robyn, and the other members of the large Brown family.
Is Robyn Brown Kody Brown’s Favorite Wife?
Many of the other members of the family have accused Kody Brown of preferring Robyn Brown over the other wives. This conflict led the other women, Christine, Janelle, and Meri, to leave Kody. Since then, Kody has repeatedly tried to reach out to mend fences with the other children.
However, Robyn believes that a little more determination on Kody’s part will bring the crisis to a halt. “I don’t want to judge Kody, but at the same time, I don’t think Kody should be accepting it. I think that Kody should be camping out on their doorsteps and saying, ‘Hey, you’re going to talk to me,’” she insisted.

Since “Sister Wives” began airing in 2010, the viewers of the TLC show have become pretty familiar with loads of information about the Brown family. One aspect viewers know very well is the identity of the Brown sister wives. Kody Brown’s first wife is Meri Brown, and they have one child together. She left him in 2022.
Janelle is Kody’s second wife who also left him in 2022. They have six children and three grandchildren between them. Kody’s third wife is Christine. They have six children together comprising five daughters and one son. She was the first to leave Kody in November 2021. She is now married to David Woolley, a Utah-based businessman.
Why Did Kody Brown Only Marry Robyn?
As of October 2024, the patriarch of the “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown and Robyn Brown, are the only married pair in the Brown family. But why did Kody only marry Robyn? Well, Kody was previously married to Meri before their divorce.
However, he legally divorced Meri so that he could adopt Robyn’s three kids from her previous marriage. This move created a strain between Kody and Meri. Notably, Robyn has three children from her marriage to David Jessop from 1999 to 2007.
They are her son, David “Dayton,” and daughters, Aurora and Breanna. After she married Kody and he adopted the kids, they had two kids between them, Solomon and Ariella, to complete the Robyn Brown family tree. In total, Kody Brown has 18 kids with the four women in his life.
