Notably, a giant digital billboard displayed a clock marking the seconds until the moment everyone was waiting for. As the crowd counted to zero, Shakira took to the TSX stage from atop a towering pedestal. Shakira’s Confession on “The Tonight Show” Before N.Y.C Performance
As previously stated, Shakira’s surprise show came after her appearance on “The Tonight Show” starring Jimmy Fallon. There, she candidly shared her journey of self-discovery following the end of her marriage. She revealed how newfound freedom has unlocked the possibilities for more fulfilling avenues.
“I didn’t have time because of the husband factor,” Shakira said, reflecting on the constraints she had felt in her creative endeavors. She continued, “Now I’m husbandless. Yeah, the husband was dragging me down. Now I’m free. Now I can actually work.”
With her latest album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” already achieving seven-times Latin platinum status, Shakira’s message of empowerment seems true. Explaining the album’s title, which translates to “Women no longer cry,” she emphasized the need for a cultural shift.
“It’s men’s turn now,” she declared. “For too long, we have been sent to cry with a script in our hands and without an end just because we are women. We have to conceal our pain in front of our kids, in front of society.”
In a review, Rolling Stone wrote, “Shakira finally gets to turn the page on these turbulent past two years and reintroduce herself. Not as Shakira the soccer mom, nor Shakira the heartbroken. But Shakira fu**ing Mebarak, international pop icon and undefeated champ.”
