She said, “In a way, it’s kind of good not to have a husband because, I don’t know why it was dragging me down, man.” She further explained that she’s been feeling the urge to work and write songs since she became single.

She Spoke About How Her Previous Marriage Affected Her Music Career

However, in 2022, they announced they were going their separate ways. During their marriage, the couple welcomed two children, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9.
Shakira mentioned that her relationship with Gerard Piqué was sometimes love-hate. She said she felt like she was leaving her family behind whenever she had to go to the studio to work on her music.
“It was kind of, like, a love-hate relationship sometimes because every time I had to be pulled into the studio to do my work, I felt that I was leaving my family unattended,” she said. “There were times when I didn’t enjoy it. You know, I felt guilt. I felt torn.”
The Grammy-Winner Further Speaks on Balancing Being a Parent and Musician
Shakira mentioned that being a musician and a parent now feels “totally different” than before. It’s more challenging because she’s responsible for her two kids, who greatly depend on her. She says it’s a whole new level of love and responsibility.
“Even though it’s more challenging because now I’m in charge of these two kids,” she said, “these two babies that depend on me so much.” She added, “And I’m a single mother; I don’t have a husband at home to help out with anything.” Generally, the singer noted that she feels “more complete now” than ever.
She Expresses Her Gratitude to Her Fans for Their Unwavering Support
Shakira’s fanbase has been supportive, and that’s played a big part in her journey as a musician and a parent. She expresses her gratitude to her fans for their loyalty and support. “I feel the fans have demonstrated their loyalty and, by demonstrating their loyalty and their love, I felt so backed up,” she said.
“They had my back all this time, and so I feel I owe them big time. And so I’m working my ass off because I want to make sure that I give back to them at least a quarter of what they’ve given to me,” she concluded.

About Shakira’s New Album
The Colombian superstar Shakira released her first album in seven years, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), on March 22. It’s available on vinyl in four different artwork editions and exclusive colored vinyl variants.
“Making this body of work has been an alchemical process,” Shakira said. “While writing each song, I was rebuilding myself.” She added, “While singing them, my tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability into strength.”
The album’s title is a nod to the empowering lyrics from her Bizarrap session “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” where she declared, “Las mujeres ya no llora, las mujeres facturan,” which loosely translates to, “Women don’t cry anymore; they make money.”
Shakira’s new album follows her 2017 set El Dorado, which spent five weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and included hit songs such as “Chantaje” with Maluma, “La Bicicleta” with Carlos Vives and the Prince Royce-assisted “Deja vu.”
