Sandra Denton, popularly known as Pepa from the famous rap duo Salt-N-Pepa, is contemplating a lawsuit against Southwest Airlines. Her decision follows a confrontation over seat arrangements that led to her ejection from a recent flight.
According to a report, the issue started during a flight from Las Vegas to Nashville, a route Denton frequently travels for business. In another video, Sandra Denton clarified that due to a knee injury from a 2018 car accident, she requires special accommodations when flying. Apparently, this was what led to her removal from the flight. Read on for more details!
What Happened Between Sandra Denton and Southwest Airlines?
For the trip, Denton had purchased two seats and arranged for wheelchair assistance, wearing a knee brace to manage her condition. However, despite her preparations, a disagreement escalated with a flight crew, who deemed her a potential risk and decided to remove her from the plane.
The situation further escalated when a man approached Sandra Denton, claiming she needed the extra seat to attend a funeral. However, despite her efforts to explain the reason for the additional seat, the man persisted.

Surrounding passengers began to argue over whether she should forfeit her seat. At last, the man was given Denton’s seat. Moreover, after some back-and-forth, the flight attendant allowed her to stay on the plane.
But you’d be shocked to find out that shortly after Denton called her assistant to document the interaction, officials removed her from the flight. They claimed that recording on the plane could pose some safety concerns, even though Denton clarified she didn’t record the flight itself.
What Was Sandra Denton’s Response to the Flight Incident?
In response to the incident, Sandra Denton expressed frustration and disappointment with how the airline handled the situation. She emphasized the need for better understanding and accommodation for passengers with medical or special needs. Currently, her legal team is evaluating the incident and considering the next steps.
Following the incident, Southwest Airlines reimbursed her $2,500 for the two seats but did not cover the $300 wheelchair assistance and $500 car service in Nashville. Despite rescheduling her meeting, Denton is exploring whether the airline violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, as her tickets were marked “disabled.”
