Rebel Wilson called out Sacha Baron Cohen as the “massive asshole” she talks about in her upcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising.” The Australian actor also claims that the “Borat” star is attempting to prevent the book’s publication.
However, Sacha Baron Cohen has shut down Rebel Wilson’s claims in her upcoming memoir that he was a “massive asshole” during the filming of “The Brothers Grimsby.” Here’s a look into the details of the drama between the former co-stars.
Rebel Wilson Teased Her New Book “Rebel Rising”
Rebel Wilson had been teasing her new book, “Rebel Rising,” on social media for weeks. She dropped hints about what it entails and what fans should look forward to. Wilson mentioned in an Instagram video that the book would explain why she has a “no asshole” policy in Hollywood.
In “Rebel Rising,” the stunning actress opens up about her journey. She talks about her sexuality, her experiences with weight, fertility issues, and more. Also, she’s been teasing that one of the chapters will name a douchebag in Hollywood that she had a bad experience with.
She mentioned co-starring with a “massive asshole.” However, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, she got ahead of her deadline and called out this person directly on social media.

Rebel Wilson Accused Cohen of Attempting to Block the Publication of the Book
After revealing Sacha Baron Cohen as the “asshole” in her memoir, Wilson claims he is attempting to block the book’s publication. She said she won’t let anyone bully or silence her, no matter how high-priced their lawyers or crisis managers are.
“I will not be bullied or silenced with high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” Wilson wrote on her Instagram story. “The ‘asshole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen.”
Wilson’s Instagram story revealed no specific details about her working experience with Cohen. However, it did something better: it got a response from Cohen.
Sacha Baron Cohen Denies Wilson’s Allegation
Baron Cohen’s representatives denied the allegations of bad behavior on set in a statement shared with The Guardian.
“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out,” a Cohen representative said in a statement on Monday, March 25, 2024. “These demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during, and after the production of ‘The Brothers Grimsby.'”
Rebel Wilson Once Voiced Discomfort About Her Time on the Comedy Co-Written by Cohen
Before “Rebel Rising,” Wilson expressed feeling uncomfortable about her experience in “The Brothers Grimsby.” In a 2016 interview with Marie Claire U.K., Wilson claimed the film’s team wanted her character to have “full-frontal nudity,” even though her contract specifically stated, “no nudity.”
In addition to the nudity saga, it seems like there was another situation where Cohen pitched a sexual sight gag for the film. Wilson reportedly mentioned this during a radio show appearance back in 2014.
The actress alleged that after she rejected his idea, Cohen tried asking again. She said Cohen told her, “Look, I’ll just pull down my pants, you just stick your finger up my butt, it’ll be a really funny bit,” Variety reported.

About “The Brothers Grimsby” Movie That Features Both Wilson and Cohen
“The Brother Grimsby” movie is a hilarious comedy starring Rebel Wilson, Sacha Baron Cohen, and other actors. The story follows a dimwitted English football hooligan named Nobby, played by Cohen, who reunites with his long-lost brother, a top spy.
They end up embarking on a wild and action-packed adventure together. The movie has a lot of outrageous humor and unexpected twists. Rebel Wilson, on the other hand, plays the role of Nobby’s love interest, Dawn. Her character brings a lot of hilarious moments to the movie, and her chemistry with Sacha Baron Cohen’s character is perfect.
However, “The Brother Grimsby,” which co-starred Isla Fisher and Mark Strong, is often considered the lowest moment in Cohen’s screen career. “Any flop is difficult. But in retrospect, the experience was fantastic,” Cohen said to the Guardian in 2021.
“I was on the trajectory of a comedy movie star in Hollywood, where you make a certain amount of movies that have to do well at the box office,” he added. “The great thing about having a complete bomb was being liberated from that.”
