Comedian Rob Schneider called out United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Schneider told the business executive that he and his family will “no longer” fly on the airline. According to the comedian, the airline is sacrificing safety in its fixation on pushing diversity.
In an X post, Schneider referenced a near-fatal accident during one of United’s flights in late 2022. He slammed them for the incident and insinuated the airline could have avoided it. Also, he said the accident wouldn’t have happened if Kirby’s business hadn’t prioritized diverse hires and focused on competent hires instead.
In addition, Rob Schneider commented on Kirby’s alleged extracurricular activities, referring to him as a “Drag Queen Practitioner.” The comedian dinged Kirby on allegations that he performs in drag shows. The allegations stemmed from prominent conservatives sharing a video of someone in a drag show they claimed was the CEO.
“Dear Scott Kirby CEO @UnitedAirlines and Drag Queen practitioner,” Schneider wrote. “I regret to inform you that I will no longer allow my family to fly on your airline.” In his post, Rob Schneider emphasized his perception of United’s flawed priorities.

Furthermore, he stated, “You have clearly placed ‘diversity’ of pilot hiring above the safety of passengers and crew.” Though he was off by a year, the comedian vividly described the 2022 accident. He brought up the UA1722 flight, during which the company’s Boeing 777-200 plummeted around 1500 feet shortly after take-off.
Afterward, the plane leveled out only 775 feet above the Pacific Ocean. “As evidenced by the aviation catastrophe of UA Boeing 777 flight 1722 from Maui to San Francisco 2023,” he wrote. “Where your diverse but incompetent flight crew didn’t know which flaps were causing its near-disastrous dissent.”
Rob Schneider continued, “Coming within 750 feet of killing everyone aboard your United Airlines.” Afterward, a United Airlines spokesperson spoke to media outlets in response to the incident and subsequent criticism. The spokesman said the pilots needed “additional training” to prevent such situations.
In his lengthy post on X, Schneider revealed he received support for his stance from United Airlines employees. “I cannot tell you how many @UnitedAirlines employees have personally thanked me,” he wrote. In addition, the renowned comedian claims they thanked him for his “valid criticism” of the airline’s careless and life-threatening leadership.”

“I look forward to your swift dismissal by UA’s board of directors,” Schneider said. “Before your inane actions cause the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children.” Concluding his critique, Schneider took a dig at Kirby’s professional future.
“After your inevitable firing, you can get back to your true passion, your Drag Queen performance,” he wrote. “Sincerely yours, Rob Schneider. Former 1K United Airline frequent flyer.” Over the years, Schneider hasn’t been the only prominent figure trashing Kirby.
X CEO Elon Musk ripped Kirby after a 2021 Axios interview over how he runs his business. The interview featured Kirby touting his company’s commitment to diverse hiring. In the interview, Kirby committed to ensuring that 50% of their pilots are women or people of color.
However, as of 2023, that rate was still only 19%. After watching the clip, Musk commented on his platform, “This is messed up.” Similarly, Rob Scheider criticized the interview in a standup special from June 2023.
