“It Seemed Impossible”
Kyle Richards admits that saying “No” to alcohol hasn’t been a walk in the park. She shared her struggle with maintaining her resolve.
“I can remember a time when the idea of going two weeks seemed impossible,” she revealed. “I’m proud of the fact that I had the willpower to stay on this path.” Richards said she is sharing her journey to help others who need the extra push to go “alcohol-free.”
Kyle Richards Faced Pressure to Back Down
In her lengthy Instagram post, Kyle Richards mentioned how she braved immense pressure to give up. According to her, some of the toughest temptations came through friends with “the best of intentions.”
“The old me, the people pleaser, did struggle with that aspect of it… I realized right away that I wasn’t going to have a ton of encouragement,” she stated.
How It Started
In December 2023, Kyle Richards had hinted about her fitness journey. She stated that she hadn’t been concerned about her fitness in the past. The realization set in sometime in 2022 after she went through breast reduction.
“I was on vacation in Europe, eating pasta and drinking wine… By the end of the trip, I didn’t recognize myself,” she said. “I had also lost my best friend, [Lorene Shea], to suicide, and I wasn’t taking care of myself,” she disclosed.
The Defining Moment
Speaking further, she revealed that the realization made her feel more depressed. “So, after we left, I said, ‘That’s it. I’m not going to have bad carbs, no sugar, no pasta, no bread, no alcohol.” She also vowed to work out every day.
Even though she wasn’t very big on drinking, she observed that when she cut off from drinking, there was “such a difference in my skin and how I felt.”
The “Incentives” Helped Her Push Through
According to Kyle Richards, the improvements she noticed in her mind and body were her greatest motivation through the journey. These were more important to her than “feeling like I had to be ‘on’ at a party or social setting.
“I’m not going to lie… the fact that I looked better because I wasn’t drinking was also an incentive to not veer off the road,” she revealed.
Kyle Richards Speaks About the “Real Reward”
The mother of four seemed proud of her new look in the photo she posted. Despite her improved fitness, she stated that her “real reward’ is how she feels. That feeling of confidence and fulfillment is priceless.
“I feel strong, energetic, and grateful for my body,” she wrote. She added that she wants to keep feeling this way for as long as possible.
Keeping Away From Alcohol Has Helped Her Wade Through Trying Times
Kyle Richards was in the middle of her 2-year sobriety when her marriage hit the rocks 1 year ago. She and her husband, Mauricio Umansky, had announced their split after almost 30 years of matrimony.
Since then, Umansky has been seen with a number of female friends with whom he had shared intimate moments in public. “It would have been a lot harder going through these difficult times if I had been drinking,” Kyle Richards said.
A New Chapter
Reports have placed Kyle Richards net worth at $100 million. The actress is also the proud mother of four children, all girls. She had the oldest, Farrah, 35, with her ex-husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, while Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15, are products of her union with Umansky.
Certainly, Kyle Richards has a lot to be grateful for and with her new-found mental and physical health fitness journey, she can now proceed on a new chapter in life.
