If there were any doubts about Princess Kate Middleton’s favorite dessert, they’ve now been cleared and by no better person than her husband, Prince William. The Prince of Wales ended any possible speculations during his official visit to the Duchy College in Cornwall on October 17, 2024. He also received a special gift from some of the students.
In keeping with his character of interacting with the people, Prince William made a planned stop at the Duchy College Stoke Climsland. The college has an interesting program for young residents of rural areas which caught the prince’s attention. To learn more about the program, Prince Williams took a tour of the school’s facilities.
After the criminology department, the prince visited the Sam’s Cafe, a student-run facility that hosts both staff and students. While he spoke with the people behind the counter, he revealed Kate Middleton’s favorite dessert.
Kate Middleton’s Favorite Dessert
During the discussions, Chef Darren Watson disclosed to the prince that he had been doing some investigation to find out the royals’ favorite desserts. He then put his research to the test by declaring that Princess Kate’s most-loved dessert was the sticky toffee pudding. Prince Williams confirmed the chef’s claim by saying, “Very good.”
The sticky toffee pudding, also called the sticky date, is a British dessert that is also pretty popular in Australia and New Zealand. It’s the most popular choice for many dessert lovers with sweet cravings. Its major component is a dark sponge cake, which contains chopped dates and sweet toffee sauce.

A Gift for the Prince
The prince is also in love with sweet desserts. Prince William, 42, wasn’t shy about making this known to Chef Darren. Darren went on to present a gift to the prince. It was a refrigerated breakfast cake. Prince William took the gift and said, “Thank you very much, that’s very sweet of you; any kind of sweet thing I will take; I’m a sucker for anything chocolate and anything sweet.”
Chef Darren had discovered that the refrigerated breakfast cake was a darling of the prince and Queen Elizabeth, his late grandmother. Journalists also reported that the chef made the cake using the same recipe as the one that Prince William and Princess Kate served at their wedding in 2011.
In case you are unaware, the royal couple served many cakes at their grand wedding ceremony. One was a massive fruit cake that had eight layers. The other was a chocolate biscuit cake that Prince William had fallen in love with from his childhood.
Has Princess Kate Been in Public Yet?
Prince William’s Duchy college visit happened just weeks after Princess Kate delighted her fans and well-wishers with a long-awaited public appearance. It was her first public outing since she completed her cancer treatment.
The Princess of Wales attended a church service on Sunday, September 23, 2024, after she announced that she had concluded her chemotherapy. She also disclosed that she was set to resume her public duties.
The princess was seen in the passenger seat of a car alongside her husband as they headed for a church in Scotland, not too far from the family’s royal Balmoral estate. Earlier that month, she announced that she was done with treatment for her cancer. A few days later, she performed her first official engagement after the treatment by attending a private meeting at Windsor Castle.
We should also expect more of these public appearances. Specifically, she stated that she would conduct “a few more public engagements” before the year runs down. She also reminded the public that the “path to healing and full recovery is long.”
What Type of Cancer Does Kate Middleton Have?
In March 2024, Middleton announced that doctors had found cancer in her body. She revealed that it was an abdominal surgery that led to the discovery of the cancer. But the nature of the cancer is still a mystery because neither the princess nor the palace has disclosed its nature.
She, however, disclosed that she will be undergoing chemotherapy to stop the cancer from recurring. Afterward, in June, she updated the public again, revealing that there were still a few months remaining to conclude her treatment. In September, she finally announced that she was done with it.

Is Kate Middleton a Beekeeper?
Sometime in May 2024, Kate Middleton shared a part of her life to the public. That month, she allowed her photographers to photograph her tending to bees in her home. She shared the photo on her and her husband’s official Instagram account with the caption, “We are buzzing about #WorldBeeDay.” Apparently, beekeeping is one of Kate Middleton’s hobbies.
From the photo, it was clear that the princess kept bees at her Anmer Hall home. Interestingly, the princess produces her own honey. This is only a continuation of a family tradition in which royals such as Queen Camilla have engaged. Queen Camilla is also known to keep bees and make her honey.
Why Is Prince William’s Wife Still Called Kate Middleton?
Have you ever wondered why many still refer to the Princess of Wales as Kate Middleton, which is the name she bore before she married Prince William? The advancement in technology takes a large chunk of the blame.
Even though she dropped the Middleton surname, the press continued to refer to her with it due to search engine optimization. Most people still search for Kate Middleton, as against her official name, Princess Catherine.
