Pete Davidson has finally parted ways with his tattoos. The actor and comedian showed off his bare skin as he made a public appearance on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. This was his first outing in a long while following his time at summer rehab. The arms, which were previously covered with ink, are now impressively clear. What’s the secret?
Davidson has announced his desire to get rid of his tattoos back in 2020. Now, it looks like the tattoo removal process is nearly complete. He was proud to showcase the results as he stepped out in the company of his friend and rapper Machine Gun Kelly. The pair were attending an event at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome as fans gushed over the transformation.
Pete Davidson’s skin looked as good as new as he posed for photos alongside the “Bad Things” star. He was putting on a red and short-sleeved Fire Department of New York T-shirt as well as cargo pants and a fulfilling smile. His arms were a far cry from the tattoo-riddled one he was known for.
His arms used to have dozens of black tattoos, which included cartoon characters and words such as “goon” and “wobbly.” Now, these imprints are all gone. But his shiny arms weren’t the only things that stood out. His FDNY shirt which had the organization’s logo, seemed like a deliberate attempt to honor his dad’s memory.
Peter Davidson’s dad, Scott Matthew Davidson, was a New York City firefighter who lost his life while on duty. Notably, Scott was one of the first responders who died heroically while intervening in the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001.

Why Is Pete Davidson Getting Rid of His Tattoos?
Pete Davidson announced that he will be removing his tattoos as early as 2020. The star disclosed this during an interview while promoting his movie, “The King of Staten Island.” He highlighted his decision in 2021 when he appeared on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
Davidson explained that the tattoos weren’t making things easy for him as an actor. “I honestly never thought that I would get an opportunity to act, and I love it a lot,” he stated. As he focuses more on acting, he realizes that all his characters won’t have tattoos. Consequently, he would be limiting his usefulness if he had so much ink on his skin.
He further revealed how long it took him to cover them temporarily while on the set of several movies. “It takes like three hours,” Pete Davidson revealed. He also stated that he had to show up for the procedure about three hours early. “For some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much,” he added.
Since When Did Pete Davidson Start His Tattoo Removal?
Pete Davidson’s tattoo removal began in 2020. In 2021, he confirmed he would be “burning off” his tattoos. He also stated that the process will come to an end this year. “I get my next treatment [in] like a month or so. They said by the time I’m 30, they should all be gone,” he stated. “So, they got like two more years left of this,” he added.
Davidson also revealed the process hasn’t been easy. According to the now-30-year-old entertainer, the laser treatment for tattoo removal is even more painful than the process of getting the tattoos.
“Not only are they, like, burning off your skin, but you’re wearing these big goggles, right? So you can’t see anything, and the doctor’s in there with you,” he explained. But it’s a small price to pay for the advancement of his career.
Davidson also mentioned that the doctor sought permission before burning off any tattoos. “So before he goes to laser each tattoo, you have to hear him announce what the tattoo is to make sure if you want to keep it or not.”
“So I’ll just be sitting there all high off of the [nitrous oxide] … and then all of a sudden I’ll just hear, ‘Are we keeping the Stewie Griffin smoking a blunt?’ And then I have to sit there and be like, ‘No, Dr. G.’” he narrated. Although Davidson’s skin is now shining, some traces of tattoo ink are still on them.
