Michelle Obama Beats Trump in Hypothetical Matchup

There is division in the Democratic camp! On one hand, they have a candidate who is grossly unfit to run and likely to lose but is refusing to step aside. On the other hand, they have to find a suitable candidate who can present a challenge to Trump.

Both situations are sensitive, and the luxury of time to handle them properly is absent. If they, by some miracle, get Biden to step aside, the options of people who can replace him are not much. Now, among the available options, a poll has revealed that only one person stands a chance of winning.

However, it is someone who has repeatedly expressed her disinterest in running for president. None other than Michelle Obama, the wife of the former President, many still adore even today. According to the poll, in a hypothetical 2024 matchup, Michelle Obama beats Donald Trump hands down.

Obama is one of the names being considered as a possible replacement for Joe Biden. Many Democrats have publicly asked Biden to step down as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president following his terrible performance during the debate.

His poor performance triggered panic among Democrats, who finally asked a question they had been refusing to consider: Can Biden take on Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, in November and win?

Meanwhile, Biden refuses to heed his party members’ requests. Seth Schuster, a Biden campaign spokesperson, said in an interview after the debate that Biden has no plans to drop out. His obstinacy is a big problem for the Democratic Party, but there’s an even bigger problem.

The only person who hypothetically stands a chance at winning against Trump is Michelle Obama, who does not want to run. According to the Reuters/Ipsos poll, 50 percent of registered voters said they would vote for Obama if the election were held today, compared to Trump’s 39 percent.

The poll respondents included 1,070 U.S. adults nationwide. There were 892 registered voters, and the survey occurred between July 1 and 2. It reportedly has a margin of error of only 3.2 percentage points.

Thomas Gift, an associate professor of political science and director of the Centre on U.S. Politics at University College London, has a hunch about why Obama is thought to be most likely to beat Trump. According to Gift, the poll just reflects people’s nostalgia for Obama.

The educator also implied that Obama could win because she would be seen as a savior. Like the hero who steps in at the last minute to save the Democrats and the country from themselves. Gift said, “Suggestions that she could skydive into the convention and save the Democratic Party from itself look like a fantasy.”

According to the poll, Michelle Obama beat Biden and other top Democrats who were suggested as possible replacements for president at the top of the party’s ticket. Biden and Trump had the support of 40 percent of registered voters in the poll.

Vice President Kamala Harris fell behind Trump by one point, 42 percent to 43 percent, meanwhile California Governor Gavin Newsom trailed behind Trump 39 percent to 42 percent. Others who supported Trump in the poll include Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

The poll results also show that 32% of Democrats think Biden should drop out of the race after the debate. Overall, 56% of Americans agree that Biden should drop out, while 46% want Trump to drop out. The poll has rekindled speculations about Obama’s potential bid for the presidency.

However, the former first lady was firmer about dismissing speculation about her running for president earlier this year. Crystal Carson, the director of communications for Obama’s office, communicated this in a statement.

Carson reemphasized that Michelle Obama will not run for president and that she supports the Biden-Harris reelection campaign. Meanwhile, Trump’s response to the former first lady’s polling was typical. It came during a campaign event and saw him express doubt that Biden would drop out.

His reason? Because he apparently “does better in polls than any of the Democrats they’re talking about.” Trump also said that Michelle Obama polls “terribly.”
