Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Announce Upcoming Visit to Colombia
Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, who is also the country’s first Black woman to hold the position, announced the visit. In her statement, she seemed happy that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accepted her invitation.
She noted that their visit would be a huge opportunity for Colombia, emphasizing their engagement with local leaders, youth, and women dedicated to national progress.
Prince Harry and Meghan will visit Bogotá, Cartagena, and Cali. There, they will meet with influential figures and experience Colombia’s rich cultural heritage. Márquez further noted that their visit will provide the couple with a deep understanding of the country’s rich aspirations and challenges.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s trip precedes the first World Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence Against Children, which will take place in Colombia this November. Moreover, the Archewell Foundation, spearheaded by the couple, is known for its responsibility to foster safer digital spaces.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Address Key Issues at Upcoming Colombian Conference
In addition to the aforementioned engagements, more exciting developments are on the horizon, fellas! Francia Márquez shared that the upcoming World Ministerial Conference will focus on creating safer environments, both physical and virtual.
According to her, the conference will tackle cyberbullying, online exploitation, and the mental health impacts of these issues. Additionally, it will present practical solutions and global commitments.
During their visit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, with the Archewell Foundation, will engage in activities aligned with these critical topics. The duo’s trip should not be surprising as they recently visited Nigeria, where they highlighted mental health advocacy and supported the Invictus Games.
Their forthcoming journey to Colombia is their first official trip to the country together, representing the Archewell Foundation. Since stepping back from their royal duties in the U.K. in 2020, the couple have focused on community upliftment. They have also focused more on enhancing online safety and restoring trust in information through their nonprofit.

Archewell Foundation’s Ongoing Commitment to Global Health and Invictus Games
Just so you know, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Archewell Foundation did extremely well by investing in The People’s Vaccine Alliance. That was a global coalition of over 100 organizations dedicated to providing COVID-19 vaccines, tests, and treatments universally.
Additionally, their support funded advocacy efforts for vaccine equity in numerous countries, including Colombia. Their foundation also partnered with Global Citizen to enhance vaccine access, contributing to the distribution of 12.66 million COVID-19 vaccine doses worldwide. Meghan Markle will definitely have a swell time in Columbia, as she will be able to showcase her Spanish language skills. Notably, she acquired the skill during her internship at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Her educational background includes a double major in theater and international relations from Northwestern University. Another interesting fact about this trip is Colombia’s connection to Prince Harry’s Invictus Games.
The country joined the Invictus Games Community of Nations in 2022 and celebrated its debut at the sixth edition of the adaptive sports competition in Düsseldorf, Germany, in September 2023.
The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, aim to support wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans. Colombia’s participation reflects Nigeria’s recent inclusion, a nation the Duke and Duchess visited in May.
