From “Hiss” to “Big Foot,” rap’s “It Girls” are going at each other!
The feud between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion hit its boiling point on January 29, 2024. Minaj released a lone single, “Big Foot,” which was an apparent response or “diss track” in retaliation to Thee Stallion’s new song “Hiss.” Then, all hell broke loose.
Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” touched on various aspects of her tumultuous life as a public figure. Also, the punchy diss track aims at the haters and critics she encountered throughout her career. Thee Stallion mentioned Mariah Carey and Kris Jenner in jest on the track.
Also, she referenced Drake and her ex-boyfriend, Tory Lanez. But her words stung for Nicki Minaj. One line caught the self-acclaimed queen of rap’s attention: “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law.”
Thee Stallion continued fervently over a boosted beat, “I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start.” “Megan’s Law” is a federal law requiring law enforcement to make information available about registered sex offenders.

Hence, listeners picked the lyrics apart and linked them as an apparent dig from Thee Stallion to Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty. Petty, a registered sex offender, has served time in jail for attended rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995. Also, he served time for manslaughter in the first degree for killing a man in 2002.
Nonetheless, Minaj has defended her husband restlessly for years when people took shots at him. So, it was no surprise that Minaj ran to her husband’s defense via Instagram Live. Though she remained off-screen for most of her Live, Minaj sounded agitated.
She also previewed a then-unreleased track referencing the Houston-bred artist getting shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. The 2020 incident led to a highly publicized trial that ended last year, with Lanez getting ten years in prison. Things weren’t always at odds between Minaj and Thee Stallion.
The duo collaborated on the latter’s 2019 single “Hot Girl Summer.” However, fans speculate that their relationship has since soured. Following its release, “Hiss” climbed high up on streaming charts with more than 5 million plays on Spotify. The hit single will also debut on the Hot 100 chart.
Aside from its commercial success, “Hiss” has made waves throughout the rap community. It has also ignited a social media firestorm with Minaj fans. As Minaj went on Live to address “Hiss,” Thee Stallion appeared on “The Breakfast Club” to say she wrote her song for those who use her name.

She said, “I’m saying, a hit dog gon’ holler. That’s it. Whoever feel it, feel it.” Afterward, Minaj’s song, “Big Foot” was officially released on January 29, 2024. But Minaj had already previewed most of the song’s heavy-hitting lyrics on her Instagram Live and X over the weekend.
“Big Foot” lyrics make similar claims about Thee Stallion “lying on your dead momma” and the shooting incident with Lanez. “I call her Big Foot, the bitch fell off, I said get up on your good foot,” Minaj raps. Following the single’s release, Minaj joined podcast host Joe Budden on Spaces.
She claimed Thee Stallion was “milking” the Lanez shooting by attempting to win sympathy for herself as a victim. “It’s so obvious,” said Minaj. “She wanted a Rihanna moment so bad.” When asked which “Rihanna moment” she was referring to, Minaj dodged the question by saying the answer was on Google.
However, it’s safe to assume Minaj was referencing Chris Brown’s 2009 assault on Rihanna. “Rihanna never would milk. You could tell she wanted to move on with her life,” Minaj added. “People bashed her for not dragging it out.” In addition, the “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper claims Thee Stallion lord about her relationship with Lanez in an interview.
Despite multiple responses from Minaj, Thee Stallion has not responded directly to “Big Foot.” Nor any of the numerous social media posts or comments about her on Minaj’s behalf. Instead, she has been promoting “Hiss,” which is said to be the second single for her unreleased third studio record.
