It’s no longer news that President Joe Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee. Biden, 81, officially announced his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race on X on Sunday, July 21.
Afterward, he endorsed his current vice president to replace him on the Democratic ticket. Kamala Harris felt “honored” by Biden’s endorsement, emphasizing his “selflessness and patriotism.”
Kamala Harris’ Response to Joe Biden’s Endorsement
In response to Biden’s endorsement, Kamala Harris said, “On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and his decades of service to our country.”
She continued, “His remarkable legacy of accomplishment is unmatched in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many Presidents who have served two terms in office.”
Kamala Harris also expressed gratitude for serving as Biden’s Vice President. According to her, she met President Biden through his son Beau. Harris and Beau were friends from their humble beginning as Attorneys General of their home states.
Harris, 59, further noted that as they worked together, Beau used to tell her stories about his Dad.

Kamala Harris said the qualities Beau held in awe in his father are the same values she has seen daily in Joe’s leadership as President. “His honesty and integrity,” she noted. “His big heart and commitment to his faith and his family. And his love of our country and the American people.”
More Details About Kamala Harris’ Endorsement
Kamala Harris emphasized that Biden’s decision was based on his love for Americans. She, on the other hand, intends to earn and win this nomination. According to her, she will do everything she can to unite the Democratic Party and unite America to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.
Harris concluded her statement with a rallying message, “We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.” Notably, Kamala Harris is the first woman, the first Black person, and the first person of Indian descent to hold the office of Vice President.
Additionally, she ran her presidential campaign during the 2020 election cycle before joining Biden as his running mate once he secured the nomination.

Details on President Joe Biden’s Endorsement
President Joe Biden stated that while he has intended to seek re-election, he still thinks it’s in the best interest of his party and America for him to step down. He further noted that he will address the Nation in detail about his decision later.
But for now, he is grateful to those he has worked with who made his reelection possible. He also thanked Americans for their faith and trust in him. “I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America can’t do—when we do it together,” he said. “We just have to remember we are the United States of America.”
In a later post on July 21, Biden endorsed his vice president, writing that selecting her for the office was “the best decision I’ve made.” His statement read, “Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee for our party this year.” He continued, “Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
Prior to this latest development, Biden was asked directly whether he would step aside if polling showed Kamala Harris as a more viable candidate in defeating Trump. In response, he said, “No, unless they come back and say, ‘There’s no way you can win,’” he replied, adding, “no poll’s saying that.”
The White House also recently announced that Biden tested positive for COVID-19 after an event in Las Vegas on July 17. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the president was experiencing “mild symptoms” and that he returned to Delaware to self-isolate.
