Joe Biden attended the Democratic National Convention on Monday, August 19, to present a united front and confirm that no love is lost between him and Vice President Kamala Harris as she runs for the 2024 presidential race.
When he took the stage, there was much fanfare. After the lengthy standing ovation, Biden, 81, reminded voters why they voted for him in 2020. Then, he urged them to once again do all they could to keep Donald Trump away from the presidential seat.

Biden went on to remind the audience of how he stood in front of the Capitol that had been overrun by a violent mob just two weeks before. He continued, “With a grateful heart, I stand before you now on this August night to report that democracy has prevailed. Democracy has delivered. And now democracy must be preserved.”

Biden called Harris a close friend and a woman with “enormous integrity” before vowing to be her campaign’s “best volunteer.” “Let me ask you. Are you ready to vote for freedom? Are you ready to vote for democracy and America?” he asked the audience. “Let me ask you. Are you ready to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz?”

Why Did Joe Biden Step Down From the Presidential Race?
Joe Biden announced his decision to no longer run for reelection on Sunday, July 21, because of increasing pressure and public speculation over his fitness to occupy the presidential seat for four more years.
He announced his choice via a lengthy letter he addressed to Americans. His decision to step aside for Harris comes mere months before the November 2024 election and follows the alleged assassination attempt against his Republican rival, Donald Trump.
After some days, Biden pulled out of a speaking commitment after testing positive for COVID-19 on July 17. The octagenarian once said he’d drop out of the race should a medical emergency emerge.
