Recent reports from Deadline revealed that Dave Bautista officially joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming movie “The Last Showgirl.” The former WWE Champion will star alongside Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd in a movie directed by Gia Coppola.
The movie, written by Kate Gersten, has Robert Schwartzman and Natalie Farrey as producers. Kara Durret and Jesse Burgum of Pinky Promise will also be the executive producers. The movie centers around “a seasoned showgirl” who must decide her future after her 30-year run abruptly ends.
In her fifties, she struggles with reinvention issues and also tries to mend a broken relationship with her daughter, who often takes a back seat to her showgirl family. Anderson, who portrayed the movie’s title character, received praise from the director.
Coppola stated, “I’ve always wanted to make a movie in Vegas. I’m so proud of our cast and crew, especially Pamela. I can’t wait to share her daring and heartfelt performance!” She maintains a notable presence following last year’s acclaimed documentary “Pamela, a Love Story,” directed by Ryan White.

Anderson has Emmy nominations for Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Best Documentary Music Composition. After the announcement, Schwartzman happily said, “Dream project, dream cast. We couldn’t be more honored to tell them an authentic Las Vegas story.”
He added, “The story pays homage to the iconic Showgirl, told through Gia’s unique sense of style and storytelling.” Meanwhile, as news of the all-star cast circulated, Coppola shared on Instagram that filming had wrapped.
Notably, Coppola is the granddaughter of famous filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. She has an extensive directorial background, including shorts, music videos, and more. Her notable solo-directed features include 2013’s “Palo Alto,” adapted from James Franco’s short story collection.
In addition, her projects include 2020’s “Mainstream,” starring Andrew Garfield and Maya Hawke. Concluding her role in “Pamela, a Love Story,” Anderson played Roxie Hart in a limited eight-week run for “Chicago” in 2022.

Her performances received standing ovations from audiences. Similarly, before the Broadway stint, Anderson shared with CNN her anticipation. She stated that casting could mark “the beginning of something really interesting for me.”
Currently, Anderson hosts the second season of HGTV’s “Pamela’s Garden of Eden.” The show showcases her efforts at her grandmother’s home in Vancouver Island. Curtis, an Academy Award winner for her work in “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” starred in “The Bear” and Disney’s “Haunted Mission.”
While Lourd returned to “American Horror Story,” Shipka led Prime Video’s “Totally Killer” in horror. Bautista, will return as Glossu “Beast” Rabban in “Dune 2.” Additionally, he will voice the ParKeet King in Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and the Heron.”
Production for “The Last Showgirl” is done, with CAA overseeing sales. CAA and Untitled represent Coppola, while Independent Artist Group represents Anderson. Lastly, Bautista is represented by CAA, Brookside Artist Management, Shikpa by WWE, and Anonymous Content.
