Actor Cillian Murphy, popularly known as “K,” celebrated his big win at the 2024 Oscars, taking home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. In attendance was his wife, Yvonne McGuinness, and their sons, Malachy, 18 years old, and Aran, 16 years old. Murphy has graced the big screens for over 25 years, showcasing his masterly talent and allure.
Murphy, Malachy, and Aran twinned during the event on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. They were matching in classic black tuxedos and white plissé button-down shirts. In addition, Murphy topped off his ensemble with a bespoke gold brooch.
McGuinness stuck with the black theme, donning an off-the-shoulder gown, which she accessorized with a silver clutch, black heels, and a chord choker necklace.
The Oscar Award
Murphy captivated fans as Tommy Shelby in the BBC historical drama, “Peaky Blinders,” first broadcast in 2013. However, his recent appearance in the highly acclaimed film “Oppenheimer” garnered widespread applause and commendation, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished performer.
Besides, Murphy became the first Irish-born actor to win an Oscar for Best Actor, with the 47-year-old saying on stage with a smile, “I’m a very proud Irishman standing here tonight.”

How Did Cillian Murphy Meet McGuinness?
The couple met in Dublin, Ireland, in their 20s, married in 2004, and have two kids, Aran and Malachy Murphy. In 2015, Murphy’s family resided in Kilburn, in north-west London, where the actor and his wife relocated after their initial meeting.
Cillian Murphy entrusts the move back to Ireland to various factors. One of the reasons was that his 40th birthday was approaching. Reflecting on his time in London during his 20s and 30s, Murphy pondered whether there was more to life than the city offered. This prompted a desire for exploration and new possibilities.

The London-based grooming sage, Gareth Bromell, made Murphy look elegant for the awards season, and a lot of prepping is involved. Firstly, that hair; anyone who lived through the ’90s is aware of the style. The secret, says Bromell, is all in the trim.
“I give Murphy a haircut that falls into place whatever way we style it,” he says. “It’s the perfect style if you’re looking for something low-maintenance.” To recreate Murphy’s haircut, Bromell is happy to share a few pointers for your barber. “Your hair will need to be fairly short around the sides to ensure the curtain fringe is visible,” the renowned hair stylist says.

“I recommend scissor-cutting the sides to aid in natural fall around the edges, “Bromell said. “Again, it ultimately gives a more streamlined shape, which can help focus on the jaw and cheekbones.” The hairstylist added, “Just remember to leave a little extra length on the fringe, as this will ultimately add some much-needed weight to balance out the longer sections of the cut.”
Apart from that, Bromell says there’s maintenance involved, too. “I cut the hair around a week or two before the red carpet if the schedule allows, and depending on the hairstyle, I wash hair the day before,” says Bromell.
After that, it’s all about solid and reliable hair products. “I like to style the hair forward and messy for an effortless vibe,” Bromell noted. “I use a paste cream depending on the hair texture that will hold the volume and texture throughout the event,” he concluded.
Cillian Murphy and McGuinness’ Parenting Hack
Murphy has observed in his sons a level of confidence and self-assurance that he did not possess at their age. The actor figures his sons are more sure of themselves. “I’m happy about that,” he said. “For me, it was something that took a long time to figure out, and it’s all good to be you and be an individual.”
Furthermore, the star called his sons “really good boys,” with whom he shares laughter. He stated that he and his sons do not have “Dad’s Movie Nights” as much as Malachy and Aran love some of his movies. “They say all my films are intense,” Murphy noted
Murphy and McGuinness’ parenting hack gives inspiration on raising boy children. “It seems very practical and sensible that you would promote empathy,” Murphy said. “It’s about listening, and the best acting is about listening, too.”
Cillian Murphy won his first Oscar for Best Actor at the 96th Academy Awards. The Irish actor’s Academy Award win was for his portrayal in “Oppenheimer” of the physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who led the US development of the atomic bomb during World War Two.
