In celebration of Barbie’s 65th Birthday, Mattel is pulling out all the stops for a regal party befitting the queen! Timed perfectly for International Women’s Day, the company reveals a brand-new Barbie doll collection that honors inspirational global role models and storytellers.
At the forefront of this top-notch collection, we have Viola Davis. Davis is a distinguished EGOT recipient, activist, artist, philanthropist, producer, and bestselling author. Mattel handpicked Davis for her outstanding performances in “Fences” and “The Help.”
Also, he recognized her dedication to inclusive storytelling through her JuVee Production company. Moreover, her impactful initiatives combating childhood hunger in the U.S. Davis’s doll will capture her iconic 2018 Golden Globes look.
Furthermore, the doll will showcase her natural afro, a stunning black velvet Brandon Maxwell Gown complemented by silver jewelry, and a matching clutch. Adding to the star-studded lineup, Mattel will create a doll that honors Shania Twain.

Twain is a five-time Grammy winner and globally acclaimed songwriter. She is famous for chart-topping hits like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and her influence on fashion. With over 100 million albums sold worldwide, Twain is the best-selling country-pop artist in history.
Naturally, Twain’s doll will showcase her “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” outfit, complete with a standing microphone. Helen Mirren takes center stage in Mattel’s celebration. This is not mainly because of her portrayals as Queen Elizabeth II in “The Queen” or her role in “Barbie the Movie.”
It is also because of her tireless advocacy for self-expression and making waves in the fashion world. Moreover, beyond her acting career, Mirren is a dedicated patron for several organizations that support women and children.
Notably, she received the title of Dame of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II in 2003. Mirren’s doll showcases her appearance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. It features a custom periwinkle gown designed by Del Core, complemented by matching colored hair.

Fresh off her first Grammy win this year, Kylie Minogue will receive a doll from Mattel. This is in recognition of her achievement as the sole female artist with a No. 1 album in five consecutive decades in the U.K.
Additionally, Minogue boasts a dazzling career marked by 80 million records sold, 5 billion streams, and an impressive 9 U.K. No. 1 albums. Minogue’s doll will capture her essence, featuring the iconic red outfit from the music video “Padam Padam.”
In addition to the four Barbie Role Models lineup, Mattel will also award four extra women globally. The diverse group includes Lila Aviles, a Mexican director, producer, and screenwriter famous for her award-winning work at over 30 international festivals.
Maira Gomez, a Brazilian content creator from the Tatuyo ethnic group in Amazonas, is also included. Nicole Fujita, a Japanese model, has her apparel brand CALNAMUR set to open its first retail store this month. Lastly, Enissa Amani, an Iranian-German comedian and political activist, is also included.
