Elliot Page took the stage at the 2024 JUNO Awards in Nova Scotia. Ashanti and Nelly appeared at the 25th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in Washington, D.C. Also, the singer, 43, and her rapper beau, 49, stepped out for American Humor, honoring Kevin Hart at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Ashanti was glowing alongside her beau as they wore complementary looks for the event. The “Foolish” singer sported a long black and white fur vest by IStylebySonia over a black Balenciaga shirt dress and black leather thigh-high boots.

She accessorized her ensemble with a stack of Chanel pearl necklaces, an embellished chain, and a pair of large hoop earrings. Her hair was slicked back in a sweeping pony, and she wore glossy red lipstick.

The Power Couple
The pair walked the carpet together at the 25th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
A month prior, the couple went on Instagram Live for a hilarious moment as Ashanti supported and laughed at her man, who lost his tooth during Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas. In October 2023, Nelly showered his lady with love for her birthday, marking their debut on Instagram. “One time for the birthday girl.”
“Such a beautiful, incredible person inside and out and one of the hardest working women I know.” Nelly wrote in his caption. “@ashanti Enjoy your day, Ma, you look awesome!!!! Happy Birthday! Love ya!!!!”

Nelly and Ashanti Meet at a Grammy Awards Press Conference
The lovebirds first met at an event for the 2003 Grammy Award nomination announcements. Ashanti recalled their first meeting in VH1’s Behind the Music special. “The first time I met Nelly, he asked me for my autograph, but I think he was being sarcastic, and I remember writing it down on the program,” the “Foolish” singer said.
“That picture has been in so many publications as something else, but it all started as a joke. For the record, it took him a long time to get my number.”
How Their Relationship Went
The Grammy Award-winning artists first dated in 2003 and broke up a decade later. They spent another decade apart before reuniting in 2023. Though Nelly and Ashanti always remained coy about their relationship and split, they often spoke about each other in interviews.

In 2010, Nelly reportedly opened up about the status of his relationship. However, when the DJ asked how he felt about their rumored breakup, Nelly responded that calling it a split would be admitting they were ever together, something neither ever did.
“To me, our relationship has been based in the media because there’s nothing we ever said about it,” the “Hot in Herre” crooner said. “People tend to put us together, and then they split us up whenever we find it funny. We just look, and whatever the media says, I guess we roll with it.”
In September 2023, however, Nelly finally confirmed the speculation that the two had reconciled during an appearance on the Boss Moves with Rasheeda show. “I think it surprised both of us,” he said.
The same day news of their rekindled romance broke, Ashanti attended the 2023 MTV VMAs and touted a personalized clutch printed with a photo of her and the “Ride Wit Me” rapper.
