In an interview, Aaron Taylor-Johnson slammed fans for hating the age gap between him and his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson. The renowned movie star mentioned how wild it is that people make such a big deal about the 24-year age gap between them. He finds it downright bizarre.
Aaron told Rolling Stone UK about his marriage to the 57-year-old director, Sam Taylor-Johnson. He said all the criticism isn’t warranted because he’s got an old soul, thanks to his child-acting days.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson Questions Why His Life Is Being Judged

Aaron Taylor-Johnson questioned why his life happenings should be judged. “You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that. What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me,” he said.

How Aaron Taylor-Johnson Met His Wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson
Aaron and Sam’s relationship has been the talk of the town for a while now, especially when you think about how they first met and Aaron’s age at the time. The lovebirds reportedly met in 2008 while filming “Nowhere Boy” and Aaron Taylor-Johnson was around 17 years old.
Eventually, he landed the role of John Lennon and proposed to her that same year. In 2010, the two welcomed their first child together, Wylda Rae. They tied the knot two years later and had their second daughter, Romy.
“As soon as we finished (filming), he told me he was going to marry me,” Sam told Harper’s Bazaar in 2019. “We had never been on a date or even kissed.” “And a year to the minute after we met, exactly one year to the minute, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me,” Aaron Taylor-Johnson added.
Aaron is a Stepfather of Two
Before her marriage to the actor, Sam was initially married to Jay Jopling. The duo shared two daughters, Angelica Jopling and Jessie Phoenix. As a result, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a stepfather to 27-year-old Angelica Jopling and 17-year-old Jessie Phoenix.
In the Rolling Stone U.K. feature, the “Bullet Train” star refers to all the children as his “four gorgeous daughters.”
Aaron Reveals How People’s Opinion About His Marriage Doesn’t Bother Him
During the interview, Aaron Taylor-Johnson opened up about how he feels super protective of Sam. If things don’t click between them, he feels responsible. This shows how deeply he cares about their relationship and wants to ensure they’re both happy.
Also, in the interview, he spoke about how he’s not bothered by how people perceive his personal life. He’s just out here trying to balance family, work, and all those mundane things like dentist appointments. Hence, he noted the hate was nothing.

The Couple Previously Explains Why They Keep Their Lives Private
The Taylor-Johnsons have mentioned before that their age difference is one of the reasons they prefer to keep their lives private. They want to focus on their love and happiness without all the outside noise. “The attention was intrusive,” Aaron Taylor-Johnson told New York Magazine in 2017 of the initial public reaction to their relationship.
“But having to deal with that early in my career probably got me to a place where I can more quickly just go, ‘Oh, (expletive) it’ instead of wanting to rip someone’s head off for asking questions I don’t like,” he mentioned.
Age-gap romances in Hollywood are everywhere. Take Olivia Wilde, who is 40 and was linked to Harry Styles, who is 30. And then there’s George and Amal Clooney, Hollywood’s power couple with a 16-year age difference. It’s definitely unconventional, but it doesn’t mean it’s automatically unhealthy.
But with all the recent talk about the Taylor-Johnsons, people seem to be more focused on power imbalances than the individuals involved. Despite the hate, the couple focuses on themselves and ignores the noise.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson might just be getting the opportunity to be the next James Bond. It’s like a chance to step into some huge shoes. If he nails down the role, he’ll be the seventh actor to take on the iconic character since 1962.
