Reflecting on the nearly 18 years since he exchanged vows with Erinn Bartlett, Oliver Hudson opens up about the “horrible choices” that led to their big day. On the “Sibling Revelry” podcast, co-hosted with sister Kate Hudson, he discussed his past infidelities, revealing why he can’t bring himself to regret a single one.
“Regret is an interesting word,” Oliver Hudson said after guest Robyn Lively asked about his life’s regrets. He continued, “I’m not sure I have many regrets because if I didn’t, it was a choice that I made, whether it was a positive one or a negative one. I’ve made some horrible, horrible choices in my life, just generally.”
He added, “You would think I regret doing that, but I don’t know where or who I would be if I didn’t make that choice.” He further noted that when he got engaged, something happened psychologically, and he was spiraled and unfaithful.
Then, somehow, he was cheating, and it was indeed wild. He added, “I never got caught. I told her everything because I couldn’t live with myself and get married. And be married and have children with this sort of weight. I was crying, like, who am I? I told her everything. She’s an amazing woman.”

Oliver Hudson and Erinn Bartlett’s Love Story
Speaking about his marriage to Bartlett, Oliver Hudson noted that his mom, Goldie Hawn, played a part in navigating his past mistakes. Proposing in 2004 and tying the knot in 2006, their union in Cabo San Lucas began a stormy yet transformative journey. Despite their challenges, the duo found comfort in their shared commitment to growth and understanding.
Oliver Hudson noted that with the support of family and therapy, they survived the storm, welcoming three children: Wilder Brooks, 16, Bodhi Hawn, 13, and Rio Laura, 10. He further revealed a refined perspective on regret, noting the importance of looking beyond singular actions to appreciate the whole relationship.
Oliver Hudson acknowledged his flaws throughout but still argued that he was a good man. He said, “And honestly if that didn’t happen, I don’t know what kind of person I would be. So, do I regret it? I mean, no, I guess not. I regret causing pain. I don’t want to cause anyone any pain.”

Oliver Hudson clarified controversial remarks about his upbringing, particularly his relationship with his mother. In a previous episode in March, he revealed he had “almost the most trauma” from his mother, although she was his “primary caregiver.” He said, “I felt unprotected at times.”
“She would be working and away, or she had new boyfriends that I didn’t really like. She would be living her life, and she was an amazing mother,” he added. However, in a more recent episode, he set the record straight. He said, “There was no trauma coming from my mother, the way she raised me, in any way whatsoever.”

Addressing recent criticism surrounding his remarks about his mom, Oliver Hudson noted that his initial comments were from the perspective of his 5-year-old self. He further emphasized how complicated childhood emotions and perceptions can be.
“That’s what I was doing. Without her, again, I’d be nothing,” he explained. He also clarified that his remarks were more about his feelings about his childhood at the moment rather than his current feelings towards his mom as a parent.
Regarding this, Oliver Hudson’s sister, Kate Hudson, claimed her brother slipped up because he was unsupervised during taping. Notably, she was absent from the episode when Oliver made the controversial comments.
She said, “You got in a little bit of heat from mom about your ‘trauma’ comment because it became a clickbait headline versus a context of what you were saying.”
