On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Lenny Kravitz was honored during a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the iconic Capitol Records Tower. To celebrate the milestone, his daughter Zoë Kravitz, an actress and filmmaker, honored him with a sweet message.
Also, his friend Denzel Washington was present at the event to commemorate him. According to Denzel Washington, he and Lenny Kravitz have been close friends for decades. In Washington’s message to Lenny, the renowned actor mentioned their friendship for over 30 years.

During the history-making ceremony, Zoë talked about how Lenny has been one of the best things to happen to her. “Lenny Kravitz, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you for a long time,” she began. “And I must say, being your daughter has been one of the great adventures of my life.”
“Since you were so young when I was born, in many ways, we’ve grown up together,” she added. “We’ve been through a lot. We’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen a lot. The renowned actress added, “I’ve seen you change in the most beautiful ways; I’ve seen the way you’ve stayed the same in the most important ways.”
Zoë Kravitz Pays Tribute to Lenny’s Shirt
After Zoë praised her dad for being such a loving father who shows up and cares for the people he loves, she joked about him. The stunning actress noted how Lenny Kravitz always said something funny about shirts, which he has lived by.
“I’ve seen the way you show up and take care of the people you love; I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art,” Zoë said. “But mostly, I’ve seen through your shirts.” She joked, “According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt.”

“And sure, you used to embarrass me when you’d pick me up from school as a kid,” Zoë added. “But I gotta say, at this point, I respect it.” The talented actress also took a swipe at Lenny’s favorite shirt during her speech. “You do pull it off,” Zoë said. “Your relationship with the knitted shirt is probably your longest one, and it works.”
She added, “You two make each other better, and if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. It’s a beautiful thing.”

While honoring Lenny Kravitz at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, Zoë spoke about her relationship with him. She said the relationship she keeps with her dad is incredible. “All my life, people have asked me, ‘What’s it like to have such a cool dad?'” she said. “And the answer is, ‘Awesome.’ It’s awesome. But not for the reasons some might think.”
“What’s cool about you is not what people think is cool about you,” the talented actress noted. Your radness doesn’t come from your shades, leather pants, or knitted shirts. It comes from your true love for life.”
“Everything you do expresses that love,” she continued. “Your music, your lyrics, your live performances, your homes, your love of food, of family, of good conversations, stupid jokes, dance parties, late-night kitchen talks, you devour life.”
“You eat up every crumb and lick the plate,’ Zoë added. Life is your art, and that is why your music is so inspiring and important.” The actress ended the speech by giving Lenny Kravitz a big hug and saying, “Congratulations, you’re a star.”
Denzel Washington Honors His Long-Time Friend
Lenny Kravitz and Denzel Washington have been friends for decades. In his speech to the iconic musician, the Academy Award Winner spoke about how he’s been brothers and friends with the musician for 30 years.
“He’s more than a friend, he’s more than a brother,” Washington said. “We’re twins; we just don’t look alike. We’ve had a close brothership and friendship for 30 years.” Washington added, “God has blessed him with an unbelievable talent, but even more so, an unbelievable heart.” In addition, the movie star called Lenny Kravitz “a giver” and “a lover.

Lenny Kravitz Called His Walk of Fame Star an “Incredible Honor”
While speaking at the event, Lenny Kravitz called his Walk of Fame star an “incredible honor.” The iconic musician also spoke about how having his daughter and Washington there meant the world to him.
Furthermore, Lenny Kravitz paid tribute to Norman Lear. He noted that if the late screenwriter and film producer hadn’t cast his mother, Roxie Roker, in the hit television sitcom “The Jeffersons,” he “probably wouldn’t be standing here right now.”
“I used to walk these very streets because the action and the grit that I was missing in New York was right here in Hollywood,” he said. “As a teenager, I spent a lot of time walking up and down Hollywood Boulevard, seeing the names of all my idols.”
“I never dreamt about having a star. I was usually looking for a place to crash,” Lenny added. “But I did dream about making the music I wanted and doing my own thing.” Furthermore, the talented singer noted that seeing his name on the same streets he used to walk “is a surreal, indescribable feeling.”
Other Stars in Attendance
Besides Zoë Kravitz and Denzel Washington, other dignitaries graced the event. Some include fellow Walk of Fame honoree and singer-actress Marla Gibbs, actor Hal Williams, and chef Wolfgang Puck.
Also present were actor Channing Tatum, Earth, Wind & Fire member Verdine White, and actor and musician Evan Ross. The stars all gathered to commemorate the talented musician.
