Fans recently accused celebrities, including Alyssa Milano, Kim Kardashian, and Gwyneth Paltrow, of being “out of touch” with the public. Milano faced backlash on social media when she requested donations for her son’s baseball team.
Similarly, Kardashian found herself in hot water for resuming her collaboration with the fashion brand Balenciaga. This prompted fans to question her awareness of public sentiment. In Milano’s tweet, she said, “My son’s baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip. Any amount would be so greatly appreciated.”
Milano’s plea for financial support raised brows among social media users. They questioned the need for Milano, a multimillionaire, to seek contributions from her followers. One social media critic said, “Why isn’t Alyssa Milano paying for the trip for the whole team herself?”
Another questioned her decision to “ask for money from people who can barely buy groceries.” A day after her initial request, she addressed the scrutiny of X. She stated that she had received several “media inquiries about whether (she has) financially contributed to (her) son’s baseball team.”

Responding to the criticism, Milano said, “I’ve paid for uniforms for the entire team and coaches. I’ve thrown birthday parties and sponsored any kid who can’t afford monthly dues.” Moreover, she mentioned the team’s self-fundraising efforts through car washes, movie nights, and other events.
However, Milano thanked those who contributed to the GoFundMe and emphasized the positive impact on the boys and their families. On the other hand, Kim Kardashian stirred public outrage with her recent fashion collaboration.
In January, she resumed her partnership with Balenciaga. The decision comes over a year after the brand faced boycotts for a 2022 holiday advertisement that many criticized for sexualizing children. However, despite the previous backlash, Kardashian takes on the role of ambassador for Balenciaga.
She emphasized doing “what’s right” in her association with the brand. Many critics condemned Kardashian, suggesting that her motivation was solely financial. One X user said, “It’s not surprising at all!”

The user claimed that “Kim Kardashian doesn’t care about Balenciaga’s recent history (including its vulgar approach to children) because cashing in is her goal.” Kardashian, however, voiced her concerns on X, saying, “As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images.”
She continued, “The safety of our children must be held with the highest regard, and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society – period.” She appreciated Balenciaga’s fast actions in removing the campaign and apologizing.
Lastly, Gwyneth Paltrow faced scrutiny because she listed her Montecito property on Airbnb. She dubbed it her “little guesthouse.” Although Paltrow’s intentions may seem well-meaning, critics pointed out the discrepancy between “little” and the property’s nearly $5 million price.
One commenter said, “Who could ever afford to stay there? Gwen, this is Instagram, where normal civilians who can barely make rent each month, let alone eat…socialize. I mean, your (sic) target market is probably celebrities and rich people like yourself. Most of us could only dream of visiting a fraction of a house of what you live in.”
Paltrow addressed the issue in her post, acknowledging the human condition of loneliness and concern about the increased isolation rate. She stated that Airbnb’s initiative was to alleviate loneliness and invite people to stay at her Montecito guesthouse for a night.
