Peacock, NBC, and E! Jen Neal recently announced that Adam Sandler is set to receive the People’s Icon Award. Jen Neal, EVP of live events at NBCUniversal Entertainment, said, “Adam Sandler has been a fixture in the industry for decades. “He has been entertaining us since he got his start on ‘Saturday Night Live’ more than 30 years ago,” she continued.
In addition, she said, “From Billy Madison to Mr. Deeds, his unforgettable characters have endured the test of time and left their mark on audiences for generations. We’re excited to honor him with this year’s People’s Icon Award.”
Sandler, 57, has achieved phenomenal success as a writer, actor, comedian, producer, and musician. Also, the renowned actor boasts stellar filmography box-office hits. They include “Grown Ups,” “Happy Gilmore,” “The Wedding Singer,” “Big Daddy,” and “The Longest Yard.”
Sandler, who initially made a name for himself as a stand-up comedian and SNL performer, remains active in his career. In 2023, his credits include Netflix’s “Murder Mystery 2,” “You Are Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” and “Leo.” However, Sandler’s versatility is apparent in acclaimed dramatic roles in films like “Uncut Gems,” “Hustle,” and many more.

The renowned star also hit the new year running. He stars with Carey Mulligan in director Johan Renck’s sci-fi drama “The Spaceman.” This is set to premiere on Netflix on March 1. In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler shared his connection with “never-do-well” characters in his movies.
He stated, “I guess I connect to underdogs. In real life, I’ve always rooted for underdogs.” He continued, “When I go on a basketball court, and I play people one-on-one if someone says ‘I’m going to kick your ass,’ that’s usually a game where I go, ‘Oh, I’m going to win this time.’ Because I am an underdog, and I am very comfortable being an underdog.”
Over the years, Sandler’s career has earned him numerous accolades. This includes nine People’s Choice Awards, six MTV Movie Awards, and eleven Kid’s Choice Awards. In addition, he received the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2023.

This was with tributes from figures like Idina Menzel, Dana Carvey, Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock, etc. Sandler will receive an honor for his comedic career, celebrated for iconic roles in films like “Happy Gilmore,” “Grown Ups,” and “The Wedding Singer.”
During the event, Adam Sandler will join the esteemed ranks of past recipients, including Melissa McCarthy, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, and Ryan Reynolds. Simu Liu will host the People’s Choice Awards, set to air on February 18, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, Peacock, and E!.
This will be live from the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, Calif. The event’s production is in the hands of Den of Thieves, with Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Pranger, and Barb Bialkowski as executive producers.
