After leaving the RNC earlier this month, Ronna McDaniel is now set to join NBC News as a political analyst. She told the outlet that the Capitol riot doesn’t represent the country or define her party. She further stated that attacking the Capitol would resort to violence, and that’s not the way forward.
When asked about her earlier silence as RNC chairman, she said, “When you’re the RNC chair, you kind of take one for the whole team. Right now, I get to be a little bit more myself.” McDaniel’s RNC departure coincides with the rising tensions between Donald Trump, the leading GOP presidential contender, and the committee.
Trump and his team showed disappointment over the RNC’s finances, with the committee experiencing one of its weakest fundraising years in the last decade.
Battle for Loyalty and Legal Power
Trump believed that the committee under McDaniel’s leadership could have fought for his candidacy in the 2020 election. More importantly, he felt she could have kept top-tier lawyers to push his false claims of rampant voter forgery.

According to Ronna McDaniel, Trump wanted her departure and was eyeing replacements: Michael Whatley and Lara Trump. Despite the tensions rising from Trump’s team regarding election challenges, McDaniel remained neutral. However, her neutrality clashed with Trump’s strategic moves, including skipping primary debates.
As the heat of debates flared, McDaniel reflected on the brewing tension and media spectacle. She said, “It was well played out in the media. And I knew when I was doing that role that when the nominee came forward, and it was likely to be President Trump, they would switch, and that’s his right as the nominee.”
McDaniel’s Checkered Past
Elsewhere, McDaniel’s appointment at NBC has ignited criticism. Her track record of labeling the media as “fake” and intensifying baseless claims about the 2020 elections is the cause. During her tenure as RNC chair, Ronna McDaniel was involved in a phone call to pressure Michigan officials not to approve votes from areas where Biden held a significant lead.
Regarding the certification, McDaniel told the officials, “Do not sign it. We will get you, attorneys.” Despite her urging, the Michigan Department of State reminded officials that her claims lacked merit. The department affirmed the integrity of the election, emphasizing that Michigan’s democratic procedure was fairly conducted.

Ronna McDaniel Acknowledged Election Results
Surprisingly, Ronna McDaniel acknowledged Biden’s victory in the 2020 election “fair and square.” However, she expressed lingering concerns over voting issues. “I believe that both can be true,” she said. Addressing the fuss over her RNC tenure and allegations of Republican losses, McDaniel rebutted, saying, “I push back on that very hard.”
She highlighted significant achievements during her tenure, citing historic levels of female and minority representation. “Under my time as chair, we’ve had more women in Congress ever than in the history of our party. We’ve had more minority growth in our party, and that didn’t just happen,” she said.
Ronna McDaniel Speaks on Trump’s Fundraising Tactics
In the lead-up to the 2024 presidential race, Ronna McDaniel sheds light on the controversial flow of funds to Trump’s legal saga. “Is it appropriate for Donald Trump to ask donors to pay for his legal bills?” Welker asked. “Well, I think as long as the donors know that that’s what they’re doing,” McDaniel responded.
Emphasizing the donation “waterfall,” McDaniel ensures transparency. She noted that Save America will primarily cover Trump’s legal expenses, distancing the campaign and the RNC. With Trump facing four criminal indictments, the legal saga intensifies amidst fundraising intricacies. Moreover, Trump has not pleaded guilty.
More Details Fundraising Tactics
A recent discovery shows that a portion of donations to the “Trump 47” joint fundraising committee will first flow to Save America PAC. They are a group that handles Trump’s legal fees before they are sent to the RNC or state Republican parties.
As said earlier, Trump skipped all primary debates. However, he has said he wants to confront President Joe Biden on the grand stage in the general election. However, the RNC voted in 2022 to withdraw from presidential debates sanctioned by the Commission on Presidential Debates, which has caused uncertainty over the traditional electoral showdown.
