Ohio woman Nalah T. Jackson, 25, from Columbus, admits to the abduction of twin infants. Currently, she faces a potential 20-year jail term after confessing to the kidnapping charges. The incident occurred when she stole a black Honda Accord left running with 5-month-old twin boys, Kason and Ky’air Thomas.
Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of the crime, wherein she stole the vehicle and drove away with the infants. This was even after she abandoned the twins separately in different parts of the state in 2022. Unfortunately, Ky’air, one of the twins, died as a result of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) a month after his discovery.
An unrelated event, according to a coroner’s report, said Ky’air’s passing was due to an “unsafe environment.” Authorities reportedly found the baby on an adult bed decorated with excess pillows and bedding. Following the initial kidnapping, a massive law enforcement operation happened across Ohio and five states.
The operation happened with the FBI and Ohio State Highway Patrol lending their support. U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker expressed the community’s shock and error at witnessing Jackson preying on the twin’s vulnerability.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Parker noted that Jackson admitted to her crime and agreed to a 20-year sentence for her actions. At approximately 10 p.m. on December 19, 2022, Jackson left a pizza restaurant in Columbus.
Using that opportunity, she took the car while the boys’ mother was inside the same restaurant collecting a takeaway order. Over the next few hours, Jackson drove to various locations across western Ohio, according to the attorney’s office.
Her journey stopped at Dayton International Airport around 3 a.m. the following morning. On entering the airport, she seemingly lost track of where she parked the stolen car. Shockingly, she tried getting an Uber, presumably to help her locate the vehicle.
Eventually, she found her way and sped off toward Indianapolis with just one baby in the car. Regrettably, Ky’air was left behind in the airport parking lot, secured in his car seat. According to the attorney, a passerby discovered him between two cars around 4 a.m.

Jackson arrived in Indianapolis at 8 a.m. Immediately, she parked the stolen car outside Papa John’s in the city’s university district. She left the car behind, with baby Kason still inside. While the law enforcement and family searched for leads, Kason remained in the back seat for two and half days.
Thankfully, the breakthrough came through the efforts of two local women. On December 22, 2022, Shayann Belmar, an Indianapolis resident, saw Jackson selling stolen products outside a gas station. Remarkably, Belmar offered Jackson a ride to a local shopping plaza and shared her cellphone.
Last year, Belmar told NBC News affiliate WCMH Columbus that she came across social media posts detailing the case and suspected Jackson. Teaming up with her cousin, Mecka Curry, they decided to verify Jackson’s identity and locate the missing baby.
Initially, their search could have been more successful. However, they decided to grab some food at a local pizza restaurant. It was there they noticed the black Honda Accord. Upon approaching the vehicle, they found the driver’s door ajar, and to their surprise, baby Kasin was still in the back seat.
Immediately, they took Kason to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for dehydration, heart abnormalities, and severe diaper rash.
