GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley blasted the Republican National Committee (RNC) for attempting to push her out of the race. This statement resulted from the RNC weighing a resolution to declare former president Trump as the presumptive nominee.
Haley, in an interview, said that the RNC was” clearly not” acting like an honest broker after the group said the GOP should unite behind Trump. “You’re going to tell the American people that you would decide who the nominee is after only two states have voted?” she asked.
“This is a democracy. The American people want to have a say in who will be their nominee. We need to give them that.” The former South Carolina governor also said it was wrong for Trump to pressure the RNC to back him.
She stated this was implied when Trump asked the RNC to cancel debates. “He can’t bully his way through the nomination,” Haley said. “It’s not surprising that the political elite surrounds him. But let’s keep in mind, the political elite has gotten nothing done for us.”
She continued, “We know exactly the people that pushed it are his people. And I know that during the debates, he was pushing Ronna McDaniel, RNC Chair, to stop the debates.” Haley further alleged that Trump had been bullying the members.

“He was calling her every other day. He’s been pushing them to pay for his lawsuits and all of these other things,” she stated. “But at the end of the day, this is not about the RNC. This is about the American people.”
In addition, Haley stated that both candidates must let the election play out and do what is necessary. She pointed to her home state of South Carolina as an example of the potential for her campaign to succeed.
“We saw South Carolinians; we had 1,500 people in Greenville County. I think that Americans want to make this decision themselves.” Haley continued, “This is about the American people. This is not about a political party deciding who they want as the nominee.”
“When I ran for governor, there were five candidates. I was far from the nominee. I ran against the lieutenant governor and attorney general, a congressman, and a state senator,” she said. “They did the same thing to me then. I won, then. I’m going to win now.”

“Republicans know that if we’re not united as a party behind our nominee, we won’t beat Biden,” McDaniel said. In addition, she stated, “I don’t see it for Nikki Haley.” On his social media, Trump responded to the RNC, saying they should not move forward for party unity.
He announced that he wanted to “finish the process off AT THE BALLOT BOX.” Haley declared that she intends to stay in the race despite losing to Trump in New Hampshire. Neither would she let whatever the RNC says sway her commitment to the race.
“We’re going to keep on going and see where this gets us. That’s what we’re going to do right now. I take it one state at a time. I don’t think too far ahead, but I’m not going anywhere.”
