According to law enforcement sources, Karen Houghton was reported as deceased in San Marcos, California. The details surrounding her passing are not entirely clear at the moment, but county officials are currently considering it to be from natural causes.
Houghton was Kris Jenner’s sister. The two shared the same parents, MJ and Robert Houghton, and Houghton was born three years after Kris. The sisters grew up in San Diego, mainly living with their mom, MJ, after she divorced their dad.
Kris Jenner Addressed the Death of Karen Houghton on Instagram
A source revealed to TMZ that Kris Jenner is feeling upset about the loss of her sister. Also, the source highlighted how heartbreaking the loss of Karen Houghton is for MJ. Losing a child is incredibly devastating, especially for MJ. Hence, the family is coming together to support each other during this difficult time.
She wrote, “It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly. My heart aches for my mom, MJ, and my niece Natalie (Zettel), and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time. Karen was beautiful inside and out.”
Furthermore, Jenner also wrote that Houghton was “the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so funny.” Before Houghton’s demise, the two sisters seemed to have minor conflicts. It also appears that Jenner and her younger sibling were once estranged. However, they settled their differences sometime in 2019 and appeared in a picture together.

Karen Houghton is survived by her daughter, Natalie Zettel. Her daughter has a fiancé, Noah. Noah proposed to Zettel in July 2022. On Mother’s Day 2023, Zettel posted a lovely photo of Houghton wearing a leopard print coat. The caption was so heartwarming; it showed their love.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful Mothers!!!!! I love you, momma. I am always thankful for you,” Zettel wrote. Zettel is pretty close with her cousin, Kylie Jenner. They’ve been spotted hanging out together and even posted some cute photos on social media.
