One-time CNN journalist Michelle Kosinski shared on her social media handle her unsettling experience at a dinner get-together with a group of Donald Trump campaigners. She expressed how the encounter disturbed her, as these individuals initially appeared to be quite ordinary.
“Everyone was highly learned and accomplished in their respective professions,” Kosinski reminisced about the dinner on X. “They appeared fantastic!” At first glance, for about an hour, the former NBC News reporter kept going, labeling the guests who are Trump campaigners as “secretive.”
However, their genuine support for MAGA became apparent as they enjoyed a few drinks.
Endorsement and Personal Insights
Kosinski, who worked as CNN’s White House reporter until 2020, expressed her astonishment at the discovery. She found it remarkable that a seemingly ordinary group of individuals could endorse a politician whom she does not endorse.
She shared personal information about the party attendees, including details about their kids. “A group of couples both went to the prestigious Ivy League universities,” the ex-CNN employee tweeted, gaining over 3 million views.
“However, now that it was time for their children to attend university, they were firmly refusing to allow them to apply to any prestigious institutions,” Kosinski added. The former CNN reporter said that they were peculiar when it came to clarifying the reasons.
Shift in Discussion
Shifting away from the topic possibly associated with recent demonstrations regarding the ongoing dispute in Gaza, Kosinski shifted her focus to the next set of principles that are not considered progressive.
“The following team unexpectedly used air quotes while discussing climate change,” the former left-leaning Senior Diplomatic Journalist recounted.

“Once more, these individuals are otherwise intelligent,” she said. Kosinski also implied that the millions of Americans who endorse the current GOP candidate possess below-average intellect. “Not scientists,” she added. “However, well-informed.”
She continued, “And the guy became extremely angry when my friend brought up the harm Trump had caused and promised to keep causing.”
Avoidance of Political Discussion
In her viral tweet, Kosinski noted that the group changed the topic after discovering that some had real information. The journalist recalled how the person in question expressed their reluctance to discuss politics.
“My friends and I discovered that we were surrounded by individuals who otherwise kept their political beliefs hidden,” she concluded. Afterward, she explained how the supposed “difficult experience” had already taken an emotional toll.
“It’s interesting how radical or misguided beliefs tend to surface unexpectedly,” she said. “Even from individuals who may surprise you.” Kosinski added, “This get-together still lingers in my mind. They all appeared quite ordinary”.
Reactions to the Story
Several people swiftly ridiculed the story, highlighting the political writer’s reluctance to acknowledge alternative perspectives as valid and her aversion to socializing with individuals holding different opinions.
“Oh, how frustrating it is to be plagued by discussions with individuals whose views differ from your own,” a user quipped. “If different opinions “torment” you, it’s high time you interacted with individuals beyond your circle,” another chimed in.

Another user added, “You reside within your own isolated world.” While many condemned Kosinski’s dinner account, Mark Hemingway, from Real Clear Investigations, highlighted the significant increase in mortgage values following three years under Joe Biden’s administration.
“It is truly remarkable how during a period when mortgage values have nearly tripled in 3 years, the general cost of living has increased by 20%, and 25% for food, and there is ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe due to Russia’s involvement, as well as a volatile situation in the entire Middle East, the reaction is ‘MAGAs are not well-informed!'”
Commentary on Political Engagement
Some focused on the outspoken progressive’s apparent wish to subject Trump campaigners to reeducation. Suppose individuals fail to engage in open discussions as friends and neighbors and instead confine themselves to their distorted echo chambers. How will they ever acquire knowledge of what is accurate or misleading?
Another comment from Kosinski in the same post states, “Will they ever be open to exploring other possibilities if they are confronted with the truth?” The appeal of nonsense is hijacking respectable intellects.
Michelle Kosinski, who recently hosted a podcast with a more liberal perspective, has a substantial following of 65.5K on X. She frequently shares content that is critical of Trump with her followers. In December 2016, Kosinski shared videos socializing with her spouse and the Obamas while working as CNN’s White House Reporter.
