Since leaving ESPN in 2023, former ESPN host Sage Steele has been making waves with her take on personal politics. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Steele didn’t hold back, saying former President Trump is her “only choice” against President Biden. She also disclosed her “fear” over the potential Biden-Trump rematch, citing concerns for Trump’s safety.
Moreover, she slammed what she sees as Democratic efforts to stop his political future. Steele said, “I’m nervous for him. Sometimes, I get nervous for his safety. Honestly, it’s crazy. The 91 charges, and you know, all the lawsuits and awarding $83 million… What happened with the Fani Willis case?”
She continued, “Like, I am blown away. Every time I think, ‘OL, this is a new low. It can’t go any lower.’ What happens?!” Steele also noted that when she arrives at the voting booth, she puts aside the “emotion” and strictly concentrates on the policies each candidate represents.
“To me, Donald Trump is the obvious answer based on what he believes, what he can do, what he has shown that he can do. Starting with the defense of our country, our safety, etc., and nothing to do with the personal stuff. I don’t care anymore.” She continued, “It’s about policy, not emotion. And that’s what I wish people could get over that emotional stuff. It’s maddening.”

Sage Steele Criticizes Biden’s Presidency
Criticizing Biden’s presidency, Sage Steele laid out a list of reasons for his declining popularity. From inflation to the border crisis, Steele didn’t mince words, even pointing to what she sees as Biden’s mental decline. Highlighting incidents like Chinese balloons lingering over US territory, Steele argued that the signs of this crucial situation are hard to ignore.
So, speaking of her experience interviewing Biden, Steele expressed her heartbreak over what she perceives as his unsuitability for a second term. Notably, with a career dating back to 2007 and a recent legal battle with ESPN over free speech, Steele’s departure from the network shows her willingness to always speak her mind.
In April 2022, Steele filed a lawsuit against ESPN. She alleged that the network violated her free speech rights after she was punished in 2021 for speaking out against parent company Disney’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Also, when she slammed former President Obama for identifying as Black instead of biracial like she is, they settled the lawsuit, and she left the network last August.
Sage Steele’s Stance on Free Speech and Making a Difference
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Steele discussed her journey as a former ESPN host, emphasizing the restrictions she faced. Steele said, “I gave my opinions off ESPN platforms on my own time, which was always quite different, which is what my peers were allowed to do.”
She added, “So I thought that was okay, and obviously, I learned it was not because of my specific beliefs. So it’s been so liberating and exciting and freeing.”
She continued, “I don’t think I realized how long and how much I had just buried things in my soul, things that I was so passionate about, you know?” Now free from those restrictions, she sees an opportunity to make a difference.
As she puts it, I feel like my big mouth can make a difference, in particular with this transgender women’s sports issue, you know? And once you no longer have fear, there’s a whole big new world out there.” She continued, “And by the way, the fear will always be there in many ways, for myself and others. But you do have to take a chance on yourself sometimes.”
What Does Sage Steele Do Now?
The good news is Steele’s path became smooth last September when she sat down as a guest with Bill Maher on his “Club Random” podcast. The conversation was shocking, particularly as Maher was impressed by her presence and offered her a job on the spot.
“Wait,” Steele reacted. “Are you offering me a?” “Absolutely,” Maher responded. The discussion left Steele stunned before she took up the opportunity.
