Globally celebrated pop star Celine Dion has recently rebuked the Trump campaign. The singer blasted the former president’s campaign for their unsanctioned use of her songs at their rally. She issued the statement on Saturday, August 10, citing the campaign’s use of her song in their Bozeman, Montana rally the previous day.
In her statement, she noted that she had only recently become aware that the Trump campaign had used her song “My Heart Will Go On” on multiple occasions in the past. She also mocked their choice of song in the statement.
Previously, Trump’s team had played the song in various campaign rallies all through 2023 and in 2024. The singer posted the statement on her Instagram and X accounts.
A part of it read, “Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.”
“In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use. … And really, THAT song?” the statement continued. “My Heart Will Go On” was used as the theme song of the 1997 legendary movie “Titanic.” It remains one of the best-selling songs ever made.
Celine Dion isn’t the only musician to have called out the Trump campaign over the use of their song at a Trump rally. Previously, other artists such as the Rolling Stones, Rihanna, Queen, and Ozzy Osbourne have done the same.
For example, Rihanna sent a cease-and-desist letter against Donald Trump in 2018. This happened following the then-president’s team playing “Don’t Stop the Music” at a weekend rally. Also, the Rolling Stones threatened the Trump campaign with a lawsuit after they played the group’s songs in 2016 and 2020. “The Rolling Stones do not endorse Donald Trump,” the letter read.

Celine Dion is a proud mother of three sons. The first is Rene-Charles, who is 23, and then twins Nelson and Eddy, who are 13. Celine Dion has continued to care for her children, whom she has described as a source of real purpose.
“I’m not really a singer. My life is to be a mom,” she said. “It is what I enjoy the most. It is my most amazing reward. I will take a chance with my music. I don’t take risks with my family.” After Celine Dion was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome back in May 2023 and had to cancel all her tour dates for the next year, she described her sons as her source of light throughout the ordeal.
“Her main focuses are always her sons and performing. She is the most selfless and considerate person,” a source close to her told journalists. “Celine just loves her boys so much. They are amazing. They give her all the support and love that she needs,” the source added.
The singer has also said so herself. In June 2024, she told journalists that her twin sons had participated in drills alongside her therapist. The exercises will enable them to know how to respond in case she suffers a crisis.
“We have panic buttons in the house, and they know how to put me on my side,” she stated. “The idea of telling them and showing them, it was not to frighten them. It is for them to know, “‘I’m your mom, and it’s my responsibility. You’re old enough to understand I might need your help,’” she explained.
