Arnold Schwarzenegger has made great efforts to bond with Baena, his last child. Both of them have been seen multiple times in the past doing fun activities together. These include working out at the gym and riding their bikes. They’ve done these together for about the past decade, but this time, it’s happening in Toronto.
However, bike rides and sightseeing aren’t the major reasons they are in Canada. Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the country to work on the second season of his Netflix action-comedy series “Fubar.” The series centers around a CIA agent who has to surmount obstacles his family has placed in the way of his job.
Joseph Baena didn’t follow his dad to Canada. His girlfriend, Mel, also came along. Although she didn’t participate in the rides, they had fun together. 26-year-old Joseph Baena is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s last child. Baena is the product of an affair between Arnold Schwarzenegger and his housekeeper. He was born while Schwarzenegger was still married to his wife, Maria Shriver.
Joseph Baena’s identity became public knowledge after Maria Shriver filed for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger. Reports revealed that Shriver cut marital ties with Schwarzenegger after discovering he fathered a child with Mildred Baena.
After the revelations, Schwarzenegger took responsibility for his actions and began going on outings with his son. Besides Joseph Baena, Arnold Schwarzenegger has four other children. They are daughters Katherine, 34, and Christina, 33, and sons Patrick, 30, and Christopher, 26.
Speaking about the circumstances surrounding Joseph Baena’s birth, Schwarzenegger said, “It was wrong what I did. But I don’t want to make Joseph feel that he is not welcomed in this world—because he is very much welcomed in this world.”
Schwarzenegger made the statement in the 2023 Netflix docuseries Arnold. “I love him, and he has turned out to be an extraordinary young man,” the actor added.
What Does Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Do?
Joseph Baena is a DJ. He also pursues acting just like his father. However, Joseph Baena has vowed not to live in his father’s shadows. He wants to make a name for himself in the industry without the help of his father’s legendary status.
For this reason, he refused to take advantage of his privilege as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, preferring instead to use his mom’s surname. Joseph Baena disclosed in an interview that his decision came from philosophies he learned from his father. “My dad is old-school; he doesn’t believe in handouts. He believes hard work pays off, and so do I,” he stated.
Joseph Baena is proud that he isn’t using his illustrious family name to get acting gigs. But he has landed his jobs purely based on merit. “I love the word honor, and I’m very prideful in the sense that if I use my dad’s contacts or ask him for favors, I wonder what honor is that gonna bring me?” he stated.
“When I go to auditions, they don’t know who I am because we don’t have the same last name,” he added. 77-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger has also told journalists how he taught his kids to view life.
“I always told them, ‘Look, you can be an actor, that’s great. But until you become an actor that can be self-sufficient, you’ve got to work and you’ve got to make money. You don’t want to wait for the money from the movies. I never waited for the money from the movies. I made my first million dollars from real estate,’” he disclosed.
“And that’s in the ’70s! That’s the equivalent of, today, $20 million.” He added that he is even wiser about his finances now.

Who Is Joseph Baena’s Mother?
Joseph Baena’s mother, Mildred Baena is a Guatemala-born woman who served the Schwarzenegger family as a maid for over 20 years. Along the line, in 1996, Mildred Baena and Arnold Schwarzenegger began an affair.
The affair lasted for a number of years, unknown to Schwarzenegger’s wife. Consequently, Mildred got pregnant and gave birth to Joseph Baena. According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, he and Mildred thought the baby belonged to her husband.
However, as the child continued to grow, his resemblance to the “Terminator” star became too obvious to ignore. Although Arnold Schwarzenegger denied being Joseph Baena’s father, a paternity test revealed otherwise. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife, Mildred Baena divorced her husband and focused on caring for her son.

Even after a long-running and enviable acting career, Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t seem ready to hang his boots just yet. The former California governor is working hard towards the success of his movie, “Fubar.” The movie’s first season was quite a success and had Netflix asking for more.
