Ingrid Seward is the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and the author of My Mother and I. Her book is about King Charles’ upbringing and relationship with his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. She met the 75-year-old king at his Highgrove estate.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Ingrid Seward said that the former American actress Markle might have been a bit jealous of Middleton. She also explained how Middleton and Markle never clicked as royals right from their first meeting.
Seward Narrated How Meghan Markle Came In Between Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton
Ingrid Seward told Fox News Digital she could see why Markle might have felt jealous. Middleton, Harry, and William had a tight bond, and they always hung out at Kensington Palace. Understandably, Markle might have wanted that kind of closeness, too.
“It’s something I could see,” Seward told Fox News Digital. “Kate, Harry, and [Prince] William were a close-knit trio. They all got on well. And Harry was constantly around at Kensington Palace having supper with them, borrowing things from their fridge.”
Seward mentioned that whenever Harry had a new girlfriend, she would first meet Middleton. But when Markle came into the picture, things felt a bit different. There wasn’t that same warm feeling, and it seemed like their relationship started on the wrong foot.
“Every time he had a new girlfriend, the first person that would meet her would be Kate,” Seward said. “And then Meghan came into the mix, and it was disruptive. It wasn’t like the other girlfriends. There [wasn’t] that warm feeling. I think it started on the wrong foot,” she added.

The Author Claimed Meghan Markle Must Have Been Jealous of Middleton
Seward said that Middleton wanted to like Markle, but it didn’t work out for some reason. “Kate wanted to like Meghan, but it didn’t work out that way,” Seward said. Seward previously told The Telegraph that maybe Harry was in love with Kate as a sister.
Seward mentioned that Harry didn’t mean he wanted a sister physically but rather a sisterly bond. He had always longed for that connection, and he adored Kate Middleton. They were so close that Harry would always be around at Kensington Palace, raiding their fridge and asking what was for supper.
“I don’t mean physically, but mentally,” she told the outlet. “He always longed for a sister; he told [his mother, Princess] Diana that. Psychologically, I think he just adored her, and he was always there, at Kensington Palace, in their fridge, you know, ‘What’s for supper?'”
Seward said that Markle might have felt envious of Middleton. Markle seemed to have some expectations of becoming a princess and living in Windsor Castle. Still, instead, they were living in Nottingham Cottage, which Harry used to jokingly call “my hovel.” Hence, she might have felt a bit disappointed with the situation.
“I think that Meghan must have been incredibly envious and then jealous of Kate,” Seward said. “I heard Meghan thought she was going to be a princess and live in Windsor Castle. Instead, there’s William and Kate with this beautiful house while they are stuck in Nottingham Cottage, which Harry used to call ‘my hovel,'” she added.
Prince Harry Once Described Kate Middleton as a Good Match for His Older Brother in His 2023 Memoir “Spare”
Markle, an American actress, became the Duchess of Sussex when she married Harry in 2018. Prince Harry, 39, has had a troubled relationship with the royal family since he quit royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with her.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex mentioned that the British media’s intrusions and racist attitudes were just too much to bear, so they decided to make the move. Seward talked about how Harry and the Princess of Wales used to be close. In his memoir “Spare,” Harry also described how she was a “good match” for his older brother, who’s next in line for the British throne.
“I loved my new sister-in-law,” Harry wrote. “I felt she was more sister than in-law, the sister I’ve never had and always wanted, and I was pleased that she’d forever be standing by Willy’s side. She was a good match for my older brother. They made each other visibly happy, and therefore, I was happy too.”
Harry also described his initial impression of the Middleton. “She was carefree, sweet, kind,” Harry reflected. “She’d done a gap year in Florence and knew about photography and art. And clothes. She loved clothes.”
Seward Also Mentioned How Harry and Middleton Got Along Well
Seward mentioned that Harry and Middleton got along well. They had such a great bond, like a brother and sister. She noted that Harry and Middleton worked together really well. Seward said you could just feel the chemistry between them; it was great.
She said it was not just the two of them but the three of them, Harry, Kate, and William, who all had fantastic chemistry. William and Harry were always joking around, and Kate was the sensible one of the group.
She opined, “You could tell they were a very tight-knit group. Harry and Kate just made each other laugh. There’s no better relationship than being around someone that makes you laugh. And I think they had great fun together.”
Middleton Was Recently Diagnosed with Cancer, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Wished Her Well
Middleton shared in a video message that she was diagnosed with cancer. She’s been undergoing preventative chemotherapy after a planned abdominal surgery showed that cancer was present. However, the mother of three did not elaborate on the form or extent of the cancer in her video.
Despite the not-so-smooth relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Prince and Princess of Wales since they moved to California. They still wished Middleton well. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family and hope they can do so privately and in peace,” they said.

Kinsey Schofield, Host of the “To Di for Daily” Podcast, Doubted if the Royal Wives Will Ever Be Friends
Kinsey Schofield, the host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast, told Fox News Digital it’s unlikely that the royal wives will ever be friends. “Meghan Markle and the Princess of Wales will never be friends,” Schofield said.
“Prince Harry solidified that with the publication of his memoir, ‘Spare,’ although Meghan Markle originally crossed the line with the complaints disguised as being the bigger person via the Oprah Winfrey interview.
Despite the betrayal, Harry will always have a place in Catherine’s heart because she knew a very different Harry,” Schofield continued. “There is no love lost with Meghan Markle,” Schofield added.
